Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Idles high after running. HELP
« on: February 12, 2018, 09:35:45 AM »
so I ran the boat for about 10 min around the lake. when I would slow down to idle I would notice it was idling high. I turned off the motor and back on and it was fine. What would cause it idle higher after running?

that's what I hear. but what is difference of the 1.5 ohms and 3.0 ohms. I currently have 1.4 and bought the 3.0 and don't want it to cause problems.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Points conversion...

So here is where i am at. I bought a PerTronix Ignitor® Solid-State Ignition Systems ML-181. For the coil i bought a PerTronix 40511 Flame-Thrower 40,000 Volt 3.0 ohm Coil. The current coil I have is a Accel 8140c 12v (from what i saw online it has 1.4 ohms).

So here is my questions as I am concerned with jumping 1.4 ohms to 3.0 ohms.

Will i be able to use the current wires on the 3.0 ohms?

What is better the 3.0 ohms or the 1.5 ohms and why is it better?

Sorry if they are dumb questions as I am still learning. I just don't want to create issues. Thanks in advance for your help.

The No Wake Zone / Re: Camping Mohave
« on: May 02, 2017, 09:15:03 AM »
from orange county. I am usually on Mohave or the river in bullhead. when on Mohave we have never really ventured too far north. on the lake. I figured there would be a good cove to get away from the traffic.

So I was thinking of camping on Mohave over memorial and want to stay away from the crowds. My other concern is weather. anyone know of any good coves or done it with a jet boat? any help would be useful. Thanks

People might disagree but I can say I added the large rudder in my 20.5 it to me it was a pretty big difference.

Thanks! What size box anchor should I go with? Also how far off the beach should I keep the boat and should I just place and leave it for the day? it seems like it will be hard to do with the current moving.

So I will be renting a house on the river this summer. the house has a dock but with the lower freeboard it would beat the hell out of my boat. what is the best way to anchor by the beach for an hour or so. I don't mind beaching it but  when a roll bar boat comes by......

20.5 jet

so what would be the best options? Thanks

I agree, GT. Just getting him to understand some basics he can familiarize himself with.

Carbs are fairly basic but you have to know what the parts of them are and how they work in relation to each other to find a solution.
Thanks again guys for the info. Another question by flipping the valve covers to get the breather in the front, I would need to get a longer hose for the other side to connect to the carb I would assume?

Is that a flame arrestor or filter? I'd assume it's an arrestor since it's an enclosed motor.

Maybe it's just the camera but that thing looks caked with junk. Pull it off and clean it.
Arrestor. It's just the camera

The black plastic piece stamped with "Holley" can turn clockwise or counterclockwise if you loosen the three screws on the housing.

See the hash marks just behind the black plastic? There should be an index mark on the top of that choke housing to line it up with those hash marks.

Make sure it's not too far out of adjustment. It's not likely to be your issue but even a broken clock is right twice a day. Just something to check.
Ok cool I will start with that and switch the valve covers. Thanks

This little thing i circled with the wires going to it.
I can't see anything to adjust. One of the wire sits a little loose.

There has always been a little after the day is over but seems to be a lot more now.

as for the card it is a Holley 9029, stock fuel pump (not sure of make and model).

in the pic look at left and right side of the transom and you can see it.
