I don't think this question has been asked yet, do you need to have a flag displayed if you are floating your boat down river with people in the water?

Pardon my ignorance Crewchief, I am new to boats but why no water with out it running. I made the mistake of running my boat with a hose hooked up in the driveway before I found this site to tell me not to. I ran it way to long and I am sure I hurt the pump but can't tell. Sorry back to topic!

Might be a ripped hose, hook up a garden hose to it and build up the pressure real slow while you or someone else watches for the leak. It sounds like when the pump builds enough pressure it shows its ugly face. 
Be careful most house hold water pressure is about 75psi, you only want about 20psi in your engine. Rory
