The No Wake Zone / Re: 86 Kawasaki 300 standup...new project
« on: March 22, 2015, 09:30:54 PM »
Ok it's been awhile since I've worked on the ski but i have an update. I picked up a pump off a 550 with a Skat track 15-5 impeller that i want to install on the 300. To do that I'll need to swap shafts but I may found have that part somewhat close to me. I also got started sanding down the engine cover today & it looks like Im working with original paint which is good  8)
And the fuel tank is done & installed...pics soon !

Ok the tank i made it sealed & painted & installed. Ill have to fab some brackets so i can use the factory bungee's to secure it in place....the new tank is a bit longer & taller. Also repaired a section of the carb that had broken off & the PO used silicone to "hold" it in place...JB weld to the rescue !

TY for the advice jamiemwedmore1234. I ran into a friend who has a kawasaki jet ski motor manual so i made copies of a few pages & learned alot. Mine was missing the cable that goes from the solenoid to the starter, i added that & a bit of gas / starting fluid & she runs quite loud & she sounds healthy too ! So my new mission is to make a new fuel tank & later buy the steering nozzle.
Old tank is gonzo..Ill be reusing the threaded part....

Its a bit bigger than stock...

I also solved the stubborn throttle cable issue. Made a bracket & added another return spring...

Ok since my last post the throttle cable decided to let go so i installed a foot pedal/ cable to see if it would work etc...I had to make a new bracket for it because it's a pusher style. Fabbed it up just to get me through the season & it works fine. Hit the river yesterday...

we have about another month of boating left, after that the water is too low to even launch.

Ok i know theres not a PWC section on the site but....i wanted to share a few pics & seek some advice. Ive only been on a standup a few times & had a blast & the price was right [free] so i had to get it. Its an 86 300 & appears to be complete minus the rear nozzle. The fuel cell was cracked so its in the trash..i need to get those 2 items along with a new battery when $$ allows. The motor turns over freely & according to my friend it has aftermarket bars &  rear plate [dont know what its called]. Ive removed the faded decals & ill end up doing some bodywork & shooting it down the road. Ok the pics...

TY guys. The list of things ive done to it are...
new paint [white base w/ abalone micro flake]..
recovered console w/ new wheel..
new bimini top..
detailed motor & homemade air scoop..
repainted jet [candy blue w/ blue micro flake]..
Performance wise it does well with the Weber carb & electronic ignition..top speed i had it up to was 44 & a tank of fuel [12 gal tank] lasts 3 or 4 trips out.

Hey all just joined the site & want to share pix of my jet boat. I moved to Bullhead city AZ 3 years ago from San diego & before i left i traded a car for a 74 Conqueror marine sundance 16 jet boat. Its powered by a Datsun L 20 motor [ 2.0 110 HP] & the jet is made by Castoldi out of Italy. It ran ok when i got it & the paint / gelcoat was in so-so shape. Ive done alot to it in the 3 years ive had it..some of it cosmetic & the rest maintenance / replacing parts but luckily im a Datsun freak so keeping it running & tuned is easy.
