Boats For Sale / Re: 70's Hondo 21" "mini daycruiser"
« on: July 27, 2015, 07:00:28 AM »
Several people asked for more pics, here are some. Not interested in any trades, trying to get rid of stuff, don't need more. Boat was completely re-rigged about 12-15 years ago when I purchased it, motor has 190hrs, has manual jetavator, hydraulic trim tabs, pre/post luber (runs 30 sec before start and after turn off).  Previous owner put a lot of $$ into boat but as I said the interior is cracked a whole lot, it starts and runs without a problem, tach isn't working for some reason (it was not too long ago), jet is in good shape.

Let me know cash offers if anyone is interested, I really don't know the value.

If anyone has idea of value whether they are interested in buying or not that would be great as well.

Thx

Jim

Project Boats For Sale / 70's Hondo 21' "mini daycruiser"
« on: July 25, 2015, 05:19:07 PM »
I have a 70's (not sure paperwork says 72 but I thought it was 76) Hondo 21' closed bow boat that I'm trying to sell, I'm trying to figure out the value, it runs good but hasn't been used in a few years but I fired it up today without a problem (it's been fired up routinely), Berkley jet, 454, etc.  I call it a mini daycruiser because it's a hull I've never seen before, it's closed hull and was made by Hondo, below is a picture.  It definitely needs interior work, all the vinyl is cracked badly.  Does anyone have any interest in this?  Any idea of the value?

Thanks!!

Jet Pumps / Re: Lots of leakage around pump

Just the transom cover, correct?

Haven't done that before, how difficult is it?  Any secrets to know or watch out for?

I did fuel filters and water separator before putting in water.  Fuel pump is new also.  Hole shot is hard to say because you can't mash throttle, it hat sputters and backfires, you have to ease it up to plane.

Ideas/suggestions?

Jet Pumps / Lots of leakage around pump
« on: July 24, 2015, 09:40:24 PM »
Have a new/used boat, 21' ultra lx, 502, dominator jet, just purchased.

Took it out for first time today, getting a lot of water in bilge, I can see water running down from top of pump inside bilge, not gushing but a pretty good trickle.  The previous owner had ran a new bead of silicon around the entire outside of the pump, clearly he had this problem before.  I included picture but you probably can't see trickle.

Do I need to have someone (or myself) pull the pump completely to seal it properly or is there an easier way to take care of this, apparently a bead of silicon isn't taking care of it.  Any idea what the cost would be for someone to do this?

Any ideas or recommendations would be great.

Thx for any input/suggestions.

Boat is currently in bullhead, any recommendations for service in bullhead or Mohave valley would be welcomed as well.

Have a new/used boat, 21' ultra lx, 502, dominator jet, according to previous owner it had been sitting without use for a couple of years but carb had been rebuilt recently (Holley 750)

Took it out for first time today, if I give full throttle it just bogs down and almost dies and backfires, if I ease the throttle up I can get it to cruise at a max of about 4000 rpm (30-33 mph).  If I continue giving more throttle it bogs down to 3000 or less, misses and backfires.

I checked secondaries and they seem to be smooth to open, checked the accelerator pump and it squirts gas when manually operated.

I seem to hear the secondaries open and close via vacuum but not completely sure, however when I think I hear them close that's when power come back.

Any ideas??

Does 32mph at 4000rpm sound right?

Thx for any input/suggestions.

I think you are right that it's a dominator pump, I don't know anything about them, only had Berkeley before.  Is there anything I need to know, do I need to lube it somewhere (don't see anywhere), can you start this and run it dry for period of time, are parts available, ect???  Sorry for the silly questions but just looking for any suggestions or advice.

Topock / Laughlin / fuel on river
« on: July 19, 2015, 02:43:48 AM »
Is there any fuel on the river north of Avi any longer?  Avi's pumps are hit and miss as well, sometimes they have fuel, sometimes they don't.  Otherwise down to Needles or ???

thanks

Jet Pumps / newbie help questions
« on: July 19, 2015, 02:30:19 AM »
I just purchased an Ultra 21lx with a jet I'm not familiar with, sorry for the newbie questions.  My previous jet had a cleanout in the bilge and a couple of plugs that I put gear oil into, this one is completely different and I'm not familiar with it.  Need some advice for how to clean it out (if debris gets in it) and what (if any) maintenance is needed.  I think it's a water lubricated pump maybe (don't really know).  If it is, can you run these dry for any length of time (30 sec even or??)??  Is the clean out the triangular plate with the three bolts? (seems a lot more difficult than the two wingnuts that I used to have on the other jet).  I've attached a picture, I'd love any suggestions, recommendations, help, etc...............

thanks
