Nice so you own the property?

Most of the parks from the Palo Verde Dam to the Agnes Wilson bridge are on Indian land, you lease the land from them and put your own trailer/ garage etc on the leased land. Some areas the land can be owned but they are far and few between, and most of the parks you see along this stretch do not allow RV camping. I believe Lost Lake allows RV parking, but Hidden Valley/ Water Wheel/ Aha Quin/ Point Pleasure do not allowRV camping in their parks.

A couple of things...I try to stay on the side of the river where the land mass is the tallest along the shore. Seems to be deeper in those areas. Avoid brown/ tan water!!! Always aim for the dark blue stuff if possible.

Engines / Engine Parts For Sale / Olds 455 Motor For Sale
« on: May 05, 2017, 07:39:04 AM »
Getting ready to pull my Olds motor and drop in a BBC real soon. The Olds motor is getting pulled out on Saturday. It runs strong, and it's had a few upgrades from GS Marine. Electronic MSG distributor and new Bassett headers with just one outing on them. I have no idea how many hours on this motor or what's inside of it as far as parts go. This was the motor that came with the boat when I purchased it a couple of years ago.

$750 takes it....the headers alone cost me over a grand.

I will be saving a few parts, some of the senders and the coil. And I have a scoop for the carb.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: LOGS Vs. Bassett Wet Headers

I run logs with old school OT pipes. I like this setup for many reasons. Gets all of the exhaust heat to the very back of the boat. The logs preheat the water and help regulate the water pressure before the water goes into the block. Drawbacks, they limit the amount of overlap and duration you can have on the cam. Mild motors only. I have two extra sets of pipes if you are interested.

That's a similar set up I've been thinking about running, Im having a motor built right now by Advanced Racing Engines and we talked about it.

I just decided to pull my 455 in favor of a 469 BBC...just tired of dumping money in the Olds. Seems like there is always some gremlin or other that keeps rearing it's ugly head.

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / LOGS Vs. Bassett Wet Headers
« on: April 06, 2017, 01:19:43 PM »
I finally decided to rip the Olds 455 out of my Hondo and throw in a BBC ;D. I was running Bassett wet headers with the Olds motor but have been thinking about running some sort of LOGS set up when we finally drop the new motor in. Has anybody done this before? Any tips or tricks to look out for?
