The problem with the Oldsmobile as I am sure you have read is the oil system simply moves more oil than what can return quick enough to keep the pan supplied with enough oil to keep the pump happy. (Paraphrasing in a major way here).
Some tricks to slow the oil to the top end are essential to keeping things under control.
I'll get into it more later. But without a tachometer reading, your pissing towards the wind. Lol, the Olds really begins to struggle above about 4,800-5k rpm.
