That was the whole idea, but like I said. I'm a newbie at this and don't know much if anything about boating except what I got from my boaters safety course. My first is going to be a piece of art. I've already decided on that. But conversing with you all here, has modified my intentions a bit. I would like this to be a direct reflection of my ideas and the theme in trying to go with. Maybe fast isn't what I really want. I recently read an article where someone had crashed their boat, flipped rolled in not sure but crashed all together. It was on this forum, the hull was trashed, looked like the whole bow was ripped off. The guy said if I remember correctly that his passenger was taken to the hospital in critical condition. I think the were racing or someone said they were racing where they had no business doing so, seeing that is enough for me. I figure I had better get use to the boat first right?

That's all very nice and what not, but there is one point everyone has missed. I believe in making something your own. Your own blood sweat and tears, your own time and money invested. Ect. This might not be the right foundation to build a 110mph float. But it'll make a bad ass cruiser. ( I just need to get down there). I'd like to do a monster build, but at the same time, I can't afford to take a week off every single month. Every other or third month maybe. Welcome to the life of a trucker. I have a boat in mind, and trying to plan out what I'm going to do with it this winter. The boat is a 77 Tahiti closed bow 18' boat. It has an old built ford 460 as the power plant. I'm looking to go bigger and better. This is along the lines of what I'd like, I'm looking at crate motors because I don't have the time to tear down and rebuild one. Is the price worth it for being bran new? Thoughts?

Thanks for that. What I've got in mind, I'm looking for a turn key boat that's ready to hit the water. Simply so I can use it and get the "feel" for exactly how they handle. I'd like something that I can use for multi purpose. Fast, and fun to drive but still enough room to go fishing with. Maybe a 19 or 20 would be better? And a good radio (stereo) is a MUST 😂

I'm thinking about it. It is a nice boat, but my first is going to be my baby. I have a whole custom theme I'm thinking about here, everything from interior to exterior from bow to stern top to bottom is going to eventually be customized. Including the trailer and pickup that's going to tow it. I've got this all figured in my head, and sort of know what I'm looking for. Better than I did when I first made that post. Still looking for a turn key so I can get out on the lake this summer though.

Ok so I got a new question for y'all. I'm a newbie when it comes to boating. I've just got my boaters education certificate and one thing that I've noticed, all these jet boats are straight pipes. No muffler. In Texas these boats would be illegal to operate... Now I'm not a party crashed or anything, but any one else have some insight on this? Is this just a Texas law or is it nation wide? And is it something that the marine patrol enforces strictly or slacked on? I do drive semi trucks so not looking to have any issues with my license on the water. The punishments for a class a license is 10 fold that of the standard license.

Wish I could join you guys but seeing I drive a semi, and still trying to buy my first boat... I doubt I'll be able to make it out there. Be sure to take lots of pics!!! I live in south east Texas, I'd be willing to drive a few states over in any direction  I know crater lake in AZ is a great place for an event. There's also a few places in Texas but the cops out here on the lakes can get ridiculous on the weekends. Any events happening between June 20 - 26th or anytime in July August or September y'all let me know so I can plan out ahead!!! I need as much notice as I can get!! Thanks and y'all have a good time.
