I'm sure staying at the level I'm at, or even going to 6 lbs will be the safest in the long run.  I guess I just feel like the carbs will help keep the charge air cooler (not as cool as an intercooler, but that is one of the principles carbs aid in.)  I was told but TBS, that the 6-71's  don't start to become INefficient until 7500 rpm.  Makes me think that spinning it at 6000-6600 rpm (2.5% O/D - 11% O/D) isn't really that bad. I hear people running 8-71's running at 13% O/D, 8:1 cr on straight av gas, no intercooler, (yes with aluminum heads, but that allows for just a little more leeway), and seem to be fine. I plan on bumping up the jetting one for the bigger exhaust, maybe a few more to richen it back up on avgas (I never jetted up from 93 before, but I saw 9-10:1 afr when on the 93 so I was probably still  in the safe zone when I put av gas in then). Perhaps lower the timing to 28*    (BTW, engine made 11 less hp at 28* timing compared to 31* on 8 lbs boost)  Thanks for the help, fellas

Blew the blower gasket a few weeks back.  Replaced it with a .040 thicker garlock gasket.  No problems since.  Took it on lake Erie and to Kinzua damn over the fourth. Here are some pictures and a link to a youtube video.  Raced a few other jets side by side at dusk.  It was pretty damn sweet.  My buddy gps'd the boat at 79 mph  (I'm gona call it 80 haha)

Grinding is done. Gained 5-6 degrees.  I won’t use them all but there’s still strength left in the cast arms. I’ll repaint and make nice again

Looks Awesome! What do you like to place carpet foam or no foam backing n adhesive to stick it down ?? Thank you

Thank you! The stringers I just got 22 oz carpet from boat carpet.com and used the aerosol spray on adhesive. It works great. Just let it tack up and then put it down. The shag is actually not secured at all. I did this for the purpose of possible needing to clean it or dry it out or if I just didn’t like it after I was finished. The seats hold the side pieces down in the back, and the front bow access hole cover, diverter control, and the rear interior piece all sort of squeeze the carpet down. It’s heavier carpet too. But I had it over 70 mph and it didn’t move. It wasn’t flappin in the breeze like a tarp or something. I’m happy how it turned out and you can’t see the transitions or cuts or anything. No foam either. It’s like 2 1/2 inch shag. Feels like you’re walkin on a cloud my boy!

Im surprised you only hit 75 with 740hp have you done any pump work we’re you in it all the way? I have the same hull thinking of putting some power in it as well

I am surprised as well. But yes I was all the way into it.

I was close to 6 grand.  5800 rpm to be a bit more exact. A aggressor bronze impeller.  Loader grate. Hardened shaft. Billet u joints. Pump is NOT set back. Perhaps I should look into a different impeller or jg Split bowl with droop and ride Plate etc. the steering wheel was flexing up top, my hat almost blew off!  She’s rippin. I thought it’d have more but it’s a blast regardless. I need a engine that’ll rev to like 18 grand.  Maybe two sportbike engines haha. I just can’t keep the r’s down when I’m cruisin.  I just want more!

Thanks guys!!!  Hit 75 mph today. About 5800 rpm. I’m so glad I can finally enjoy it after a lot of work. Can’t wait for some warmer temps and maybe some titties tannin on the bow haha.

Had to take this baby back to when it was born in 1975 with some shag. I think it looks a lot better. Added lights and made the oil pressure gauge work with a new one and a new sender. Oil is changed and she’s good to go.

Thank you sir!!!  I can’t wait to take it out!!  (And everybody loves pictures!!).  I hope the insurance stuff works with Wozencraft. Even if I have to pay extra, that’s fine as long as I’m covered

Engine Mechanical / Electrical / Re: Cam timing question
« on: February 12, 2020, 06:47:10 AM »
I know this is an older thread, but since it's such good information, I had a quick question, Joe.  I am running a solid roller with 242 248 at .050, and .646 .653 on a 110 lsa set up straight up with no cam timing.  I believe I can confidently say my static compression ratio is 8:1.  This a blower setup (6-71).  It used to be a 1:1 pulley setup at about 6-7 lbs of boost and 30 degrees timing

.Because I can never leave anything alone, I had to go one tooth lower on the upper pulley making it 2.5% over driven and now 8-9 lbs of boost.  31 degrees timing.  On 93 octane, I didn't hear any detonation on the dyno, but being a blower motor and making a lot of heat because of the smaller charger, would I be safer to drop the timing to 29-30 degrees and putting the smaller 1:1 pulley back on top and lose about 50 hp? (isn't a big deal if that happens)

I just want a super safe reliable setup that will last long cruising runs.  Am I too aggressive to stay on pump gas? Or do you think I am still at a good spot and just leave everything alone?

Thanks a lot for your help guys!!

Jet Pumps / Re: Pump is leaking oil from fill hole
« on: December 24, 2019, 06:19:48 AM »
Once again, sir, I appreciate the help.  I am not home to check the oil in the pump yet, however here are the port setups on my engine.

I am running bassett shorty OT headers run dry.  I just wanted to confirm the flow of water.

Should go from:

1. lake to pump
2. pump to t fitting
3. fitting into to hoses going to the water pump ports (the two under the idle pulley bracket)
4. the two fittings on the intake manifold (no crossover or thermostat) then come out into two hoses
5. those two hoses back into another t fitting
6. that t fitting into one hose
7. single hose back into lake through the transom

Is this correct?

Thank you!!

I apologize if you thought I didn’t trust you. I’m glad you’re helping me. I just wanted to confirm. It seems like we are both on the sam page!!  The diagram confirms that as well.

I made the throttle for the dyno, it’s kinda flimsy but as long as it can make 5-6 runs to 6500, it’ll be easy to switch er back.

Thank you for that video. It was very informative. I currently have it set to 1” of slack. I hope that is right on the money.

I just hope I can get the engine going on the first try and get it broken in, carbs tuned, timing set perfect and then..... figure out how I’m going to somehow get some antifreeze in the block so I don’t completely ruin all my hard work over winter
