Cool hull, that was one of my dad's favorites and I talked to the guy you bought it from a few times, but he couldn't locate, or it wasn't there, the original ID plate. It would show who rigged it. I'm always looking to find one of his old boats. It would have been in my driveway if it had his initals on it.  ;)
Robk on the hot boat board tried to give me his old tahiti, same hull but it was all white, and I looked at it, but again, no id plate so I passed. Those really ride nice, but it's no air intrapment bottom. Just an old deep vee, and those big chines make it very stable. You'd have to be running at warp speed to pack any air in them, and then with that deep entry, it'd bow steer like carzy. We used that bottom with 4 other decks that I can remember, big seller.

Oh yeah, by the time this hull was built we had already moved the shop to cerritos and A&M trailers, who built this trailer, were located in one of the 3 buildings that only the year before was Tahiti, in Bellflower. Competitive trailers has been in one of the other buildings for the last 30 years or so. I believe Schuster still owns the property...a little usless trivia.  :D

It has a tag on it at the middle of the transom but it really doesn't say a whole lot.

I've been arguing that it is an air entrapment hull, but I think I just got officially out voted. Somewhere around 5 to 1 I think.   :D

Yeah, the guy selling the boat had it, at one time, advertised as a gullwing hull over on craigslist. Nothing could be further for the truth and I told him so. An entrapment hull as you might guess, traps air . Nowhere on this bottom is this provision. Think of it as a big funnel with the big end facing forward. All that air is bring forced into a little discharge area, creating, on a boat, lift.  A CP does that, a tunnel bottom, the old Carlsons from the 60s did that, cats do that, but not v bottom Tahitis.

Even if some strange miracle happened and you managed to pack a little air into that area, you can't with that bottom because there's nothing there to trap it but say you did do it. The chine is higher than the keel of the bottom so if you did manage to get that hog of a bottom up and running to some amazing speed and you were riding on the keel, any air you did managed to trap would escape out the side of the boat, not the back because the keel would be no longer forming an area to hold that air.

The funny part is that I passed on that boat and tomorrow I'm picking up a boat that we bought and it doesn't have a diverter. For the 300 bucks he offered that Tahiti to me for I should have grabbed it just for the diverter. But I didn't want a project sitting around after I got what I wanted off it. Boy, what a dope. lol
