I'm in the market for a Gullwing real soon and I found a light layup with an extremely thin and flexable bow. Yes I want to haul ass but It will be primarily a river boat so my question is can I fiberglass some 2x4 supports across the underside to make it a little more rigid so I don't have to worry about anyone getting in and out of the boat from the front. If so is there any disadvantage other than the weight of the wood and resin I add?

. More then likely this is not the hull your looking for. No one needs to walk on the deck. Solid supports will cause cracking in the bow.

Speaking of those supports, when you cut your bulkhead open was there a center "spine" or support between the deck and bottom? Mine has two, one towards the front and one right behind the bulkhead. Seems odd to me

Mine has a floating support starts12" behind bulkhead and runs 12" from the nose.

When you say floating, you mean it's not glassed in at both top and bottom?

I will try to explain it.  At the bottom and top they have glassed in two 2x2 with a 3/4" gap between. Then they placed 1/2" plywood in the slot. They cut it a 1/2" short so I can push down on my deck and it moves till it hit the 1/2" mark. Ope that helps.
