Short story on this boat, I bought this boat brand new in Feb 1986, we ran it for over 20 years and decided we needed a bigger boat, sold it in 2007 to a guy in Albequerqe New Mexico.
saw it for sale last summer in New Mexico and me and my son drove out there and bought it back. Memorial day this year motor gave out, perfect time to start this build.
Pulled motor, pump, interior and did some clean up, after work today it is going to B-1 for Chris to start on it! Here are some pics to start with.
-
Looks awesome !! I love these hulls, great riding boats. I have a 1983 advantage with the open bow version. One of my favorite boats I've ever owned. I have a 1/4 stringer though. They must of put the full stringers in the closed bows. Keep posting pictures

dropped it off yesterday, Chris is going to remove the intake and reset it back a liitle further, installing a jet away, new shaft,impeller,inducer,shoe/ride plate, upgrading to a hydraulic place diverter
and calgo steering with extended steering post. The stringers, bilge area, transom and front toe kick area will all be getting sprayed black. Also getting new rail kit and moving motor ahead a couple of inches.
I will be posting pics as I receive them from Chris. The goal at this point is to be ready for the Bluewater race in Feb and posibly run the NJBA season next year

Motor longblock is done, will post pics when I get them or go to Team C instagrm page, it's the 540 being built

capping in progress, had 2 stress cracks in back corners that were ground out
filling 4 holes where overboard water, bilge, forward reverse and place diverter cables were
hydraulic place diverter hoses will come through transom adapter
were going to relocate where the overboard water is, need it to be further away from the pump so we can catch it with a bucket at the races durng warm up
and it was discoloring the pump

update time, made it through the holidays, my helper (son) piled it up at Superstition Sand Dunes on new years day, dislocated his hip and fractured 3 vertebre's so got some help
coming over this weekend. we picked up the boat last friday from Advantage and got the rail kit and motor plates from B-1
-
dislocated hip or not! here's a chair and some polish
February is coming fast and we have to finish
-
another update, sons all healed up and a lot has happened, we dynoed motor on Vrbansic brothers dyno, 815hp and 725 ft lbs @6600, perfect for the jet boat!
installed motor and took boat back to b-1 for Chris to finish his part, he installed pump, calgo, heavy duty diverter pump, made bracket to support front seats.
-
started wiring and plumbing trying to make Blue Water race in Feb.
-
Got to busy and couldn't make Feb at Blue Water, we did make NJBA's first race in March, after a couple of license passes sat morning went into qualifying
at end of Saturday #1 qualifier with a 10.05! letting out going through the lights.
-
probably my favorite pic, the Advantage taking off with my old Flat "ON-RE!" on the rope
-
we ran 2 classes this weekend 10.0 and super "e", boat was being super consistent sat afternoon 1st rd of super we dialed in a 9.80 and ran a 9.82
sun morning dialed in a 9.79 and ran a 9.79 next round we broke out or got beat can't remember. Went a couple of rounds in 10.0 and broke out running a 9.96
All weekend we needed to slow boat down but didn't really know how to access msd box to set limiters.
-
NJBA April race, Got a tuning lesson from Chris and was ready to get after it at this race! We set when the diverter was going to start coming up one tenth of a second faster
a put a rev limiter on it for a couple of thenths. 1st pass off the trailer thing went 9.85 at 102, ok now let's put some more rev limiter in it and try to get to the magic # of 10.0
next round it started to misfire and make some noise on the rope, WTF! drove it to other end and put it on the trailer, start pulling plugs etc. #2 cylinder spark plug looks
all beat up. Exhaust seat cam out of head, should have known better than try and run my old heads that were fixed once before! So pulled motor back out, got some new brodix
heads, had to bore block .030 and 8 new pistons. So this is where we are now, block was bored earlier this week, heads are polished and being worked on and motor will be re-assembled.
Back to dyno and see where we are. In the meantime we are trying to finish the stuff we didn't have time to do, replace bunks on trailer, get carpet installed in boat, get Brian over
to do lettering etc etc. Should be back 1st of August and do some river time with it and see where we will get on the top 10 list! last pic it's sitting on see-doo cart in my garage
-
I love this boat. She is a beauty!!!

2017 Horsepower fest best V Bottom jet boat
2019 Horsepower fest best V Bottom jet boat

We won the Lucas oil Battle in Bakersfield(1st and only time Lucas raced at Bakersfield)
Special thanks to Lance for driving the boat and Stevie for helping with all the maint and tuning
-
after all that we got a wild hair up our ass and thought why not try the 9.0 class
it took a season to get it worked out, but the last race of the season we brought home the goods
winner in super "e" and runner up in 9.0
would have won 9.0 but we broke out with a 8.98[attachimg=1]
-
[attachimg=1]even made the NJBA flyer for a race
-
Congrats on a beautiful boat and the accomplishments with it.
I remember seeing the feature in Hot Boat. I always thought it was a good looking, well built boat. Good job.

the race that set up the 2018 season ADBA at Bluewater, we had raced the 2017 season but had problems, trashed a set of heads, trashed a set of rods, had to take the 540 and make it a 548, put on the Brodix heads, re-dynode, 847 hp, we won the 8.0 (1000 ft) class and runner up in super e, Justin Perkins in white blown flat won, think we broke out, anyway we
had to beat some heavy hitters to win this, we left Parker with some spring in our step and went on to win the 2018 NJBA season
