X2, Someone has some work in that badboy! Looks like a Dominator Or AT bowl that has been double drilled, nice parts.
GT
-
thanks cake going to clean it up and run it this season and next winter redo it thanks GT been waiting for you guys to see this thing your .02 means alot any suggestions are valued ;D
-
i like it....what i really liked seeing is the rub-rail is in the boat....that stainless can get pretty costly
-
Nordie its going back on and i have the rubber for it just got it home last night so with the rain havent be able to do anything ::)
-
yeah i noticed it was there and was happy for you that it was....if your planning on repaint maybe a cap job would be cool....definately some good hsrdware and decent rigging way cool project always liked howards....what motor is that rail kit set-up for?
-
455 olds i have one in the garage going to sell parts from my other project and finish the motor
-
just a stupid qiestion why the olds?
-
The set up was for the olds on both my boats when i got the motor it had every thing but a cam and motor was and looks to be pretty fresh bearings and all heads have double springs dizzy is a malory and bassit oths so really its a coin issus a bbc with all the trimmings would be nice ;D ;D
-
;) just asking, because being a more of a hot rod hull i would think it would be set-up bbc or bbf...bbo takes me a little by suprise...in my opinion i would be on the look out for a bbc...if you choose to run the bbo be easy on her
-
Hey Nordie have you ever seen that boat it has nv stickers ???
-
nope where i boat i dont see very many jet-boats them lake people dont think jet boaters are normal they think we are gonna sink n shit....boat was probably from the reno tahoe area or something rather, but you never know...most boats that are on craigs down here are from arizona or california...definately a cool boat though
-
Thanks bud ;D
-
Well finely got the boat moved into the yard and next week end i have four days off and three of them will be working on boat ;D ;D
-
nice boat should be well worth it when its done.i know of one thats a jet also that hauls the mail and handles th chop
-
??????? why is the intake on this pump shaped like a triangle in the front
-
Because that's an AT pump, not a berk.
I'll post pics in a few.
Ray
-
whats AT stand for ???
-
im assumming american turbine
-
Heres some pics of the American Turbine and Berkeley 12-JG pump housings side by side.
To the left is the AT pump, the right is a JG

Opposite on this one, the left is the JG berk.

Bowl side, the AT is on the right, JG on the left

Finally, should be self explanatory by now, AT on the left, JG on the right, Intake side.

Not any appreciable difference that I can detect without a machinsts table and a dial inticator stand. Look similar enough for most of us!

Its a Berkeley suction with a Dominator or Aggresor or ?? bowl Folks (check the clean out and ) brg carrier area cant 'splain the cut back corners without more pics nor could I comprehend the motive . not OEM except some "transom mount jets" Tom
more pics of the actual intake please the more look at it the more I think some one "rigged" the Berk suction to fit god only know what intake
-
Toms right, I think, missed the pump housing being square on the back side! WOW, that is weird!
Ray
-
it does have berkly on he side will get mor pics posted and Tom I think your right somone did some triming on this thing thanks guys ???
-
well iam taking pump out but wont come out due to loader and transome is cut to shape of pump tight fit lagging trailer low and iam fat contemplating getting my ass under there :banghead:
-
got the pump out now pics come later got to go to mother inlaws oh me oh my oh sh-t >:D
-
pics
-
Harry the suction is a modified Berkeley , the intake however looks to be "some elses" possibly Miersch , or Aggressor / Hard to tell from the pics but probably a decent piece depending on what your going to end up doing with the boat Tom
-

-
Skip thats what I was thinking to bud :)
-
The bowl is double drilled on both ends but the nozel isnt thinking about drilling it ???
-
Ok noz side is now double drilled >:D
-

I'm no expert, but to me the fins/vains look too blunt. I would try to sharpen them.

i dont know :-[ i think your best bet would be to ask tom
-
Thanks i need one of his pump kits anyway to make a sound pump 8)
-
I believe that is a water lubed dealio... ;)
GT
-
Clean um up and "roll" the leading edges (think of an aircraft wing) , and yes it is water lubed I'd leave it personally

-
do it now and get it over with and the rest is just maintenance from there on out.if you take your time and o it righ the first time it should last as long as you own the boat.keep up the good work

well lets see managed to drill deverter side so now both sides are double drilled noticed water dripping from chimed area of intake under boat was able to remove intake from hull with no damage to glass or intakeneed to figure out how to correctly reset the intake in the boat what i was thiking is to lay a bed of epoxy puddy and set it in bolt it up not tight to start but level it out to hull made repairs to rt stringer were glass had cracked thanks for asking
-
you are braver than i, i never had the balls to pull and reset my intake :-[
-
Honda-
Sounds like you're on the right track, I know there's more to it than what you've listed, but you're for sure heading in the right direction.
Try this link for some layout help
http://www.berkeleyjet.com/Instructions/150-H02155.pdf (http://www.berkeleyjet.com/Instructions/150-H02155.pdf)
-
Thanks skip now to stare at that so my brain can make sense of it Ralph its not the size of the balls its the size of the wallet :D
-
Harry-
I'm sure you can do it, I know you're going to need some epoxy, not sure what you've got available locally but Rex Marine sells the stuff you need
http://www.rexmar.com/page381.html (http://www.rexmar.com/page381.html)
It's the Heavy Duty Sea Going Epoxy Putty
Good luck!
-
Harry you have done a great job cleaning and prepping , reseting that intake particularly with the "set back" is critical there are some tools you'll need (your welcome to borrow) It will take at least 1 small epoxy kit and could take one and a half we also recommend you start will all new fasteners/stainless bolts nuts etc (check Cuesta equiptment near your shop). The precise angle of the mounting plate vs the keel will be critical and we will need to determine what intake (degree) the intake is for sure to set it correctly Call if you need help Tom

Wife is going to get pissed three days off and i intend on spending it with my misstress boat getting as much done as i can >:D >:D >:D ;D I love you honey

Spoken like a true man!
-
Help me feel less foolish if you would.... :-\
Shouldn't the bare aluminum be prepped with some zinc chromate or zinc phosphate primer?, I have always had adhesion issues with bare naked aluminum to virtually anything.....
Not bashing the thread, you're doing an awsome job
Unless the epoxy kits have an etching property, I would get an oxidization barrier on the intake...
If I am incorrect, can someone set me straight?
I am used to aluminum boats and have had to use some zinc chromate just to get my bilge pumps to stick in epoxy, that is until I discovered the extra strength hot glue gun sticks (the bomb BTW)...
GT
-
Now thats what i call good info i have no clue but bet Ill find out thanks GT did plan on epoxy paint before it gets put back in ;)
-

If i paint will probibly cap it to :o :screwy:
Shit if you've got it this far down, capping it would only be another step towards your end goal, I say go for it. As for primer, I really like PPG high fill primer, you'll need to thin it down quite a bit, but it is a great fill primer. I've done 3 cars and chassis with it. Good shit and it's priced right.

I Used the same for my boat. Although it was my 1st total paint job, everything went on well except the clear. I had a hard time with runs. If I do another I will use a different clear

Spent my day off picking up and paying for stuff for the boat. I got a piece of alum for fab on transom cover, a nice big chunk for 12.00$, cam & lifters 224.00$, ppg filler primer gal 60.00$. Then I started to tear down my motor, removed very clean heads and found why it had a miss, the #8 cylinder was sucking water by way of the intake and I found rust in the cylinder.
I figure I'm going to have the block cleaned up and see if it can be honed, the pistons rods and crank all look new, Mondello wants $399.00 for sized crank and rod bearings, that's crazy! nothing is cheap through them, I'll just keep looking. I have two motors coming in two weeks with K heads and poss W30 heads when I go down to Torrance for school.

The tank straps were through bolted and counter sunk causing spider cracks, Someone trayed a half ass repair. So I ground out the gall on bth sides and inside hull i laid three layers of matt and glass. outside hull I chopped up matt and filled hole then laid two more layers of matt. ground it flush . Now straight edge and finish rest of bottom shoot primer and block it. When done blocking it goes back on trailer and my freind is taking it to his shop in havasu where he has a booth . You won't like the price! Don't get me wrong, Dave does top notch work, But he told me he'd do his best to keep my bill under $20k........ :screwy:
J/K ! (He DID say that though!, ;) ). Call Dave directly, (714)879-9671. Can prolly give ya a ballpark, but to be perfectly honest, while he has it, I'd just have the whole shootin match done to it. He might insist on it.
Mine might get worse as I am considering Ralph and his Pops to assemble them............... ::)
