78 Nordic Tunnel Build
« on: March 22, 2015, 02:25:24 PM »
Pops and I drove up to Oregon and back in 25 hours to get this thing yesterday.
So here it is-
1978 Nordic Tunnel
Appears to be a light layup
Has a rounded keel and intake is machined for a shoe
Intake is setback
Balsa wood floors
HTP polished rail kit
20" wide fiberglass buckets
Has some calgo steering parts
Gel coat is in really great shape especially for being almost 40 years old.
Custom built low profile trailer with all new LED lights and brand new torque thrust 2 wheels and brand new tires.

I hear you, i didnt waste any time with it thats for sure. The sprint you picked up is super super clean though and should be a good runner. Chris at B1 was helping me with ideas for mine, and a rounded keel is really supposed to turn it into a whole different animal. He said he knew of one that ran well into the low 100's.

Thank for the info. Ill look into that. Ya I picked it up pretty cheap to. Sometimes people get into binds and just let things go for way less than they wanted. Lucky this is what happened with the sprint. But definitely would have paid the extra for that beast. O well. I'm new to the whole jet boat scene didn't need that boat to be the first or else I would have nothing to be able to up grade lol..

Picked up a sheet of marine grade plywood today so I can build the back seat. And ordered a couple things from hi tech performance over the weekend. Will post pics when the parts come in.

Got the old pump and the intake out today! Wasn't too bad taking it out, I was a little intimidated having the torch that close to the glass and was worried I would get it too hot but it went just fine. Going to get all the new shiny chit in after the B1 machine intake gets installed in a couple weeks. Oh am my HTP pump brace came in the mail yesterday.

The trailer wiring was all crisscrossed so I got that taken care of. Then I prepped the intake area because I'm taking it to GS marine on Wednesday morning and shoemaker is going to set the intake for me and have it back to me Wednesday evening. I should be posting quite a few more progress pics after that.

Thanks! I do use B1 for most everything but he's in Santa Ana and I'm in apple valley. Chris was super busy and couldn't really get me in and I work right by GS marine and he was able to squeeze me in. Boat is there right now. Hopefully have it back Friday!

The block was made but the pressure regulator looks to be a somewhat standard brass plumbing regulator.
