Spray vinegar on the part in the water after use.....should bring the shine right back. I use it on my tips as just a few minutes in the water they get hot water stained.

this weekend im up over my ears in "todo's" i dunno if i can get it all done.

reseal pump (lift up motor, pull out pump, clean off the gasket sealer, seal back up with 3m marine, install new mounting plate, hope it doesnt leak...)
redo gas valves (prolly have to pull the tanks so i can get the pickup tubes out...)
mount up plate for gauges (remove all existing, fab plate, polish it, drill holes, mount everything, reinstall electronics)
mount seats (cut holes for access under seats, make brackets, bolt em in)
bolt up transom rings (drill holes, mount em up)
mount up exhaust/risers (need to chop the studs down 1/2", clean up threads, and bolt em up)

not many updates...

i had a crack in teh dash and i was going to rip the wood out from teh backside and reglass in some new stuff, etc... but this was much easier and looks pretty. all 316 stainless plate and bolts/washers/teflon nuts.

i can stand on it now and it doesnt even flex.

fuel is all done, got new valves and pickup tubes. glad thats overwith. pulling gas tanks sucks.

just working on sealing up my pump and then bolting in the exhaust then its off to the lake for memorial day weekend.

pump is back in and sealed with the mounting plate. its soooo much easier to tighten it up than bolting to just fiberglass. much thanks to Cas on PB for the hookup.

slap a steering and control cable in it and then drop it into the water maybe this weekend for a quick carb tune and we're ready for boating!

i still gotta take it to the upholstery shop and have them make a filler for the sides of the seats thats curved.

Get a 1" x 2" x whatever feet and cut/sand it to the shape, wrap with vinyl and attach to hull or seat.

Oh man two seasons ago I helped a but build a 18' Syndicate and he put the rack in the night before we left for Laughlin. We found out real quick that the rack was on the wrong side of the pinion. It was a trip because rather than pull the boat out of the water and fix it right there we just left it and headed out on the water. We couldnt stand to waste time on the water with fixing something that could easily be fixed for the time being

got a few small issues. ill be posting up some "how do you..." questions in a few. small water leak, small oil leak. biggest problem is that my carb is starved for fuel. the little mr gasket fuel pump i have in it doesnt keep the psi up under load. i gotta grab a few fittings and toss the holley full size pump i got from pat in. i couldnt really get on it to see how it ran. id have to ease into the throttle so it wouldnt sneeze on hard accelleration.

I drove a white water boat 26 miles upriver with the old topsy turvy dealio...LMAO Sort of interesting how quick you get used to it.

The worst driving experience I ever had was in a V-Drive, some knucklehead put the cavitation plate fulcrum in upside down and the threaded part of the steering shaft sheared off, so I had to pull the plate with the heel of my foot and keep pushing the wheel on....We should have all died that weekend...

fuel pump is in, but my drill ran out of battery before i could get thru my plates and stringer. doh!

decided to not make a waste of it and clean everything up. took outlaw's suggestion and mixed up some vinegar, suave coconut hair conditioner, and a lil bit of turtle wax ice in a spray bottle. it cleans up everything nice and leaves it silky smooth.

I just noticed the vacuum advance HEI dizzy, which would seem locked out, considering the amout of detail to the rest of the boat.......... anybody else wanna tackle this?? or am I left alone on my thoughts............

any help is appreciated. if i can get a deal on a MSD distributor, MSD ignition and MSD coil this weekend at the swapmeet along with a polished intake manifold thats what im hoping for.

also i removed the choke plate on the carb, just need to remove the choke actuator and the shaft. hopefully next time out i can do a few WOT tuning sessions and pull plugs now that my fuel problem is all sorted out.

Those GM HEI dizzy are the bomb, they make a kit to actually remove the vacuum pot completely and it locks the vacuum advance plate out, using only the centrifugal weights giving you approx 12 degrees of actual advance movement, which IMHO is plenty.....That HEI will actually out perform an MSD set up at WOT...Just so you know....

They have a much higher saturation point than a multiple spark discharge will....Keep a spare module in the toolbox, they're cheap and do on occasion decide to take an unplanned vacation.

Ran a highly modified version of your exact distributor on the race boat with much success...They can maintain over 75,000 volts at 5,500 RPM, They are simple too....

The only reason we went with the MSD 6AL was to utilize the soft touch rev limiter and the MSD Pro Billet was easier to make water proof.... $:-\$

yeah i got a spare module. already had to replace it once. ok then ill nix the msd stuff. i just had great "seat of the pants dyno results" on my mustangs in mpg, and feel over like 2k with an msd ignition/coil.

ill look into the vacuum port removal/lock out.

OK, NOT where i was going, but NOT an HEI fan. Never had one work right, EVER........ worked and worked this one on Pickle......to no avail after about a hundo and a half. It's gone, history, garbage ttruck came this morning, new Mallory equipment in its place. Dialed right in yesterday, we'll see how it works out, but I'm betting I can break the 3000-5000 "hiccups" the HEI gave me constantly and not worry about the misfires and occasional start-up backfires i experienced (History has had these same afflictions with me and an HEI)

I'd LOVE for someone to teach me how to work those freaking things. But from a purely nuetral standpoint, I cannot see possibly how they stand up to whats out there!
