Steps in the right direction

Finally picked up a nice set of swim steps. Sanded, cleaned and oiled 'em and put 'em on. Hardest part was modifying and mounting the stainless brackets. These might make it a little easier to get my fat ass in-n-out of the boat.

i'd like to do mine as well. what grit sandpaper did you sand them with and what oil did you use to seal them? teak?

Thanks, Yes teak. I used fine foam sanding blocks, then used a teak cleaning/brightening/oiling kit from west marine. They came out smooth and soft as a baby's ass.

can I say that?

i just redid my teak swimsteps...sanded them...stained them reddish color...(red boat)....then used mcloskeys marine spar varnish on them....two coats so far.....maybe 3 or 4 more...they came out bitchin and will last for six years or more as my bro in law did his six years ago and look like he did it yesterday...i will post pics once i put them on the boat...

cool man thanks. ill pick up some sanding blocks and check out that stuff from west marine. was just planning on sanding and then oiling with teak oil. will that work?
