Also, there are a lot more mods that a 455 needs besides the oil returns. Main restrictors, restricted push rods, high capacity pan and the list goes on... I just got mine back together. Rushineliminator Phil knows these motors big time...

If it is the original marine block and heads than all the oiling mods should have been done at the factory right?

There is a pad on the block, right below that 1" letter casting behind the alternator that will have some stamped numbers on it.
If you see two rows of numbers, upper row starting with an "L", this signifies an original or marine issued block.
If there is one row of small stamped numbers, this signifies it was a passenger car block.

I would have lake tested it before purchase...engine problems become evident under load... Trailer running means very little since there is absolutely no load.

Cap what?  Are you refering to my lack of gramar skills? Because I'm running heavy equip while I read and post so its kinda hard to proof read.

I mean, fill the joint between the top and bottom halves of the hull, where the rub rail usually covers.  Those barrel back hulls look so sick when capped and smoothed.  One of my favorite hull styles.

Cheers,

Joe

P.S.  Belated welcome
