Title: Crazy Eight cav plates
Post by: Brad @ SCJB on September 05, 2014, 01:37:31 PM
Been plugging away at this and dusting off my old AutoCAD skills.... Thought I'd start a thread to show what I'm up to and the progress as it comes along. Here are some of the transom blocks I designed.

Would you be incorporating the spacers in the mounts? I realize it couldn't be done on a water jet and would need to be a billet piece then.

I am about ready to cut some aluminum.

Who has a CNC or water jet and a mill?

Lets make some chips.

if you were closer or could ship the parts and auto cad disc I'm sure flusher on the boards can figure something out. I've seen his work at b1 that he does and it's too notch bad mofo stuff

finished designing the blocks that will mount the plates to the transom. Added stringer washers for substance.

scratch the ones i just posted above. the space for the concept I was trying to achieve was a bit cramped. This is the design I will probably be going with...

Flusher,

I'm shopping this out locally. How much is a reasonable price to have these done? The two plate blocks and 6 of the blocks that hold the cav bar. Would you even be interested in doing this job?

depends on what type of machines they run bud if they have late model programmable stuff might be cheaper if it manual it's gonna take some time to set up the machine and a jog to make it happen. Lots if good machinist do this stuff in the side thru the company's they work for in there time.

You can try pat lbz on the boards too I know he machined a nice billet bracket to replace the Bennet plastic one

These are the bushings I was talking about. Not 100% sure if this is the best option, so if there's something else I should use, let me know.

I've only ever seen the Delron or bronze bushings recommended.
