Long time no post, still looks like a busy place with some familiar names but many new ones too.

Picked up a Hallett Miniday last year to better accommodate the family scene. Love the boat so far, it's got a bone stock 460, probably original motor and never been messed with but runs great so i'll leave it (for now).

I did do a few things to bring the pump up to current, I added a split bowl w/ double drill, Place mini snoot, hydraulic diverter and fresh powder coat.

Seems like there are a handful of other minidays around here now, so I'm hoping we can trade some good knowledge...do you guys have a pad porpoising issue around 3000-3300 RPMs? If yes, is your intake in the stock location? Who's added a ride-plate? That that help? Did you keep the intake in the stock location or set it back?

Yeah, it was an optical delusion from camera angle combined with the two-tone of the gel coat.

It looks like you have the right setup.  Do you have a loader?

Could you get some pictures of the intake opening, where the fiberglass transitions into the aluminum intake?

Love the looks of the Hallett Mini day Cruiser.  Very nice looking boat.  Look forward to future updates.

Your last picture looks like a standard Hallett setting to me.  I don't see any glaring issues.

The HPH would have been my choice also.  The HPH doesn't lower the thrust point nearly that of a full droop.  I feel the best feature is the internal shape.

Did you drive it much before changing the bowl, droop, and diverter?  Basically, is this a new issue that has manifested itself since your upgrades?

Good feedback on intake, I had guessed it was likely the stock location and likely setting as well, probably never touched since it was first built in ‘78.

Unfortunately, I did not drive it before the HPH and diverter were added so I can’t say whether or not this condition derived from those changes.

What are your thoughts on the loader? Could swapping that out provide any change for my porpoise issue?

Can anyone offer any first hand info on the benefits setting the pump back and adding a shoe and ride plate to a Hallett mini day?

I see that blue and white one on here, not sure who the guy is but maybe someone could tag him in this thread.

Hey Nick, I have the blue and white one I think your speaking of. Yes mine does the same thing as yours around 3000 rpm. 4000 rpm rides real nice! My set up is stock other than a new place diverter.

Thanks for the reply, sounds like we’re in the same “boat” on this topic. I’ve noticed as soon as I get the RPMs up over 3500 my boat also takes a nice set and stops porpoising.
