For Ralph...
« on: May 22, 2013, 07:46:32 PM »
So I remembered a while back Ralph Brunt was asking about a powered trailer dolly.

My MIL is a double amputee and really needs/relies on a powered wheel chair. So hers needed a bunch of work. I starting the quest to get it taken care of for mothers day.

I found a Hoveround on Craigslist for cheap and I went through it with a fine toothed comb. This thing was three times nicer than the one one she had, ask I had to do was switch her new batteries into this chair and she was rockin'and a rolling.. Made her day, probably year, not to mention made some cool points with the wife. ;)

So anyways, I have the old chair, the seat is thrashed, the footrest is broken, the ties are toast, but the frame is perfect, as are the motors and the controls.

So I started thinking...... This thing would make a bitchen boat trailer mover.

Here is what I have to work with.

i ended up with a power caster and it does great with the toy hauler, i tried it with the boat and a home made ball attachment and it just flat out is a pain in the ass. so i cut off the wheel on the  trailer and just use the tube and it is much better, the more tongue weight it has the better it works. if you keep all 4 wheels on yours tongue weight probaly wont be an issue

Hey Glen....maybe put the seat back on it, paint it flake brown, and it can be Hallett Dave's ride back to the hotel from karaoke night at Big River?
