There's two places that I KNOW in east county that do good jobs. And both of them you can talk about horsepower for hours and which direction to go.

oh shit Rod.... I wish I had seen this earlier. It's out my way but I know two guys, one of which is beating up on AFR's aluminums with his ported/flowed cast iron chevy vortec's... Total cost brand new----$800 but that's for a small block. He's even better with BBC heads....... Especially aftermarket aluminum heads. PM me if you'd like the number for either one. The other guy is equally good, he just doesn't sell new parts, only works on what you bring him.

My daughter's car took a dump today, timing belt. 1.6 liter Ford Escort. I will find out tomorrow if it needs just a new belt or a different engine. It's a interference engine meaning that if the timing chain breaks 99% of the time the pistons will collide with the valves. It doesn't really matter though either way, as whatever repairs her can needs will come out of my jet boat money. It was already borderline if I had the cash to finish the jet boat's engine this year anyway. I'm done with the jet boat for this year. Oh well, sh!t happens.  :banghead:  :)
