I think the problem has to do with the roller lifters not being as standard as hydraulic/solid in height. Each manufacturer has his own design and the roller lifter can vary by .100 or more...
... and there you go! The one factor I never thought of.
Thanks for all of the feedback, it was all good.... What brand roller lifters do you have?
It's a Crane cam and Crane lifters. I personally called and talked to Crane this morning, extremely helpfull people
until I didn't get the answer I wanted to hear. I have to wait but what a phukin pain in the asss.
Basicaly it seems that the crank gets installed, number 1 rod and piston get installed, cam gets installed and degree'd, cylinder head above number 1 cylinder gets installed, correct pushrod length figured out.
STOP. Order pushrods.
Wait for pushrods to come in.
Pushrods for number one get installed. Valve to piston clearence gets checked. Assuming all is good so far then the cylinder head comes back off and the "real" assembly of the engine gets started. Even if my above guess is off or not in the right order there doesn't seem to be a way to avoid the waiting.
I'm still frustrated but

and life goes on.
