Harold says these boats were designed for outboards so he fills in the bottom and puts a rocker in it so it sets back and carries the nose. He has done lots of these in the past. He says that once he is done setting my boat up and with the 540ci motor im building it will run in the 110's  ;D
Looks good Nick 540ci hell yeah 110 mph  any kind of speed coat going on the bottom.

Here are some progress pic of the bottom of the boat. Used balsa wood to build up the bottom and then they will add fiberglass to blend it into the boat

Very nice !!  Didn't want to say anything (cuz I don't know shit) but in the other shots I thought that step would be a problem, nice to see its gone.

This is a great thread.  I always loved the look of these hulls, but heard bad things about them with jets.  I'm sure its not a cheap fix, but at least now I know they can be made to work.

Actually I have been doing some of the work. Harold Bruce @ R&D Marine is the master mind behind this project!  He knows how to set these boats up to work right and haul azz. He used to drag race these hulls

Well I started spraying the inside of the boat with black & white Zoletone. It looks really good in person!  ;D

What is Zoletone? And how well does it lay down?

It is what they spray on the inside of automobile panels. it covers over stuff really good and is easy to touch up. we use it in our circle race boat as well. it is about 30 bucks a quart though.

Thanks Tom!  I did some of the early prep work but Harold has done all the magic to it! I am excited to get this thing in the water for next season. Should be a rocket ship with the 540 BBC power plant going in it!
