Even my little project was in excellent shape before I tore it apart... When on doubt, rip it out! Sh*t snowballs.

theres a lot of standing water in that float.  no way to escape?  it hasnt rained in weeks and its still wet?  i cant imagine someone used it recently in that condition with stuff falling apart like that.  trapped water?

The boat was owned by a dude that let it sit out in the open for a season then my buddy (they guy that owns it) bought a cover for it. 

He finally sold it to him but not before it sat with about a foot and a half of water in it for several months.

The water you see in there is from me with the pressure washer and some laundry detergent...The Borg Warner velvet drive rear seal failed (read above) and there was Dexron all over everything, the boat has been inside a shop for about two years now, she was bone dry...However the damage had already been done. 

So I got the transmission apart tonight...



So much of that wire got into the rear seal it destroyed the bearing insert...



Look at all the crap I pulled out from behind the seal..   This is after cutting about 6' of wire out of the seal wrapped around it like an Anaconda.

And yes, the boat is white with dark green graphics with a touch of gray here and there...











And the carpet, it is silvery...If thats a word..

Should have my bearing tomorrow...This thing is almost mechanically done...

Got a little further today... After working a 13 hour day at work, decided to get a little something something done on the boat...

After talking with my bud, we're going all in on this dealio...

Ripping all the floors an bulkheads out due to an undiscovered lake inside the hull...

The things we do for friends...

So here is where I am at, gotta stop because I gotta be back at work again tomorrow at 6AM...   I feel like a walking zombie.    All I really wanted was a couple

Just took a section out to spot check the stringers...Good to go. 



Maybe I can glue it back together?

These are factory fasteners...Drywall screws, and not very many..

Sooooo, OK I have finally gotten this POS on the road to recovery, have not updated the thread the way i should have, but I have not been working on it hard as I should either...

After repairing the trailer brakes, installing all new wood floors, stringers and bulkheads, all new carpet, getting all the interior installed, replacing the bad fuel pump, rebuilding the carburetor, repairing the Velvet Drive, installing a new alternator, new starter, new fuel hose, new exhaust riser gaskets, new bilge pump, new bilge blower, fixing the redneck electrical, flow coating the bilge, aligning the propshaft, rebuilding the tilt steering column, correcting a bent steering guide tube, installing new bunks on the trailer among all the other stuff I am sure I forgot to mention.....

I could not get it to idle very well.
Come to find out after a compression check, she is hurt bad enough to show "0" for a compression reading on number 8 and 20 PSI on number 3.... I told him several times that this thing was tired.... I didn't think it was dead though....

This boat should have been turned into a kids sandbox... 


I love boats.

Luckily this guy is an automotive machinist...
