I picked this boat up in without really knowing what i was in for, but Im going for it. Hopefully everyone here can help. It took a little work but i figured out the year and make after sanding the filler off of the hin(which im worried about since its no longer in the dmv database and i dont have a title)?. But anyway it came with a 455 short block which was left uncovered for 14 years. I got the motor out and tore down, ready for the machine shop.(Any suggestions for a good machine sjop in east san diego county?). I found some e code heads with large valves a rectangular intake ports and a pair of basset over transom headers and an 800 cfm holley so far. I still need an intake manifold and an ignition system along with a buch of other miscellaneous parts, if anyones got anything laying around? This is kind of a budget build. Im getting ready to take the motor and heads to the machine shop and just started preping to replace the transom and gunnel supports. I still need quite a few parts though. I watch the classifieds here and im on craigalist constantly but im going to post a list herw just in case anyone has anything to offer$

Yea i know i havent put aby money into the hull itself yet. The motor, pump and trailer are worth morw than what i paid for it alone. I took the pump out today. I think its a 12 jg? I want to be out on the water in a month or so, i hope my registration guy can help me out!

Welcome! As far as local shops, everyone has their own favorite. There are a few local I will NEVER go back to though. You might want to call Bostic Racing Engines (619) 792-3885. He is pretty good working with your budget as long as it is realistic.  Whoever you decide on make sure you tell them it is for a boat so they can add additional clearances.

Howard 19 offered me some parts. I cant reallyy afford what he has right now though. Im going to drop my motor off at Action Cylinder Head on Thursday to get it all machined and back to a short block. One step closer, but i still need an intake manifold and the engine electrical.

What is the difference? Should i put a diverter on it or switch pumps. I want be running alot of horsepower for a while.

When in doubt, rip it out.

Pump can be either jc or jg just has a c bowl on it. If you cant get proper paper work for hull claim it as a home built. You will get a new hin with your state as the first 3 letters. Attach a new stamped plate over or on the right back. If you can see the old hin...do a search for lost or stolen with it. If it comes up clean have the person you got it from give you a bill of sale and go apply for new title. BTW mine is titled as a CFZ Holmes hull but is a spectra.

Suprisingly the stringers are good and dry. And the foam is already removed and bow support installed. Ill post pics later. I just need to replace the transom and the gunnel and dash supports. The gunnels are going to be a pain inthe a** though!

I should have the new motor in before the weekend and hopefully running well.  Then I can give you a better list of what I have.  Had to swap several key parts from one moto to the other today.  I can't really talk at work this week but email works just a good cuz i type fast.

You understand that you are never gonna have a lot of power with most any Olds you build right?  Damn did I just say that? 

I call BS! He can build 1/2 the hp you do and STILL outrun your tuna boat.............

I gave Crewchief's buddy your VISA card number.  His blower is gonna fight under my hatch no problemo.  It really was thoughtful of you, even if you did miss my birthday by a month.  If there is any $$$ left on that card of yours, he also has a 16 plug HEMI that would look real good in one of your boats.  C'mon, be good to yourself you deserve it
