Cut and set my rails on the stringers.
I like to set my rails, 1/4” below the top of the stringers.
You can go lower if you want but i would keep it to no more than 1/2”.
The reason to set the rails below the top of stringers, is to keep them just below the round over, at the top. Otherwise it will look like there is a huge gap, between the rail and the stringer
If you are using prefabricated plates, you might have to adjust the rail height accordingly.
Use transfer punches in the block bolt holes and put the plate against them to mark the holes on the plate.
Design your shape and cut them or mill them out.
Make sure to measure the drive line, that you will be using and set the crank centerline jig, accordingly. Make sure to leave 1/4-1/2” , i like 3/8”, of end play, in the splined end of the drive line and the pump. Just bottom it out and pull out 1/4”-1/2”.
