Well its official. I started capping the hull on the Sanger today, and it seams that this will be even easier than I had thought. That is as long as my compressor doesn't decide to die on me. Unfortunately I did not get much done today because of prior engagements(sp), but tomorrow is another day and if all goes to plan I should be able to complete a majority of the cap. Let me know what you guys think.

Dad had an idea that I knew wouldn't work, but he wouldn't let it go so I did it just to humor him....... I was right

Close up.... this hull was so well fit when first made that it only takes about 2 to 3 layers of glass to fill the v that was ground

Many Sangers were capped originally, so I would be suprised if it didn't have a good fit from the factory.

Unfortunately progress is a little slow going on the capping project but I am still plugging away at it. So far I am just about half way done with the rough cap, I have the whole right side and half the transom left to do yet. On a side note while sanding the nose of the hull today I uncovered some of the origional paint work. Seems the boat was originally white with a two color candy blue tape fade scheme( wouldv'e been nice to see when new)

It has been a while since I last posted any updates on the boat. But since then I have finished the cap and have started blocking out all the glasswork. Unfortunately due to rain and work I have not been able to work on the Boat at all. Also it seam I have to retract my statement about my Dads wax paper idea, because I ended up capping the who;e boat this way, and once I got the hang of it, it worked flawlessly.

Not much to update, its been way too wet and rainy for work, but I was able to get some done before the rain and did a little pin hole filling today. I used cabosil mixed in the resin to make like a filler paste that would not sag out of the work area. The cabosil really extends the working time of the resin which was good because it gave me more than enough time to pretty much skim the whole perrimiter of the boat in one mix rather than multiple times. Before the rain I was able to strip almost all of the paint off the hull and began sanding all of the gell down.

HAHAHAH k guys here it goes.Time to list the cars in the pics, 53 Henry J gasser blown 383 41 willy front axleradiused wheel wells the whole 9 yards, 72 pantera pretty much stock save for the 17x8/17x11 american racing salt flat special wheels, the 56 wagon is a handyman special(150) with a built 468 th400 and 9" w/ 3.73's, the 914 is one of 2 we have, both have sbc's in them and the one behind the gate/pantera is mine and its got steel flares and konis all the way around.Now the cars/motorcycles you don't see. 66 shelby, 51 Ford mild custom (my personal car) 71 maverik grabber 302 c4, 72 C10 fleetside shortbed, 69 Nova with way too much to list, my 27 tall T body chopped 6", 75 Kawasaki Z1B that's heavily built, my 1980 Yamaha sr500 cafe racer, and last but not least 1978 yamaha RD400 Daytona Special. Yes my dad and I have a sickness and if we had more storage there would be a lot more.

Yea Yea forget about the boat lets see more of the Pantera !! Even stuck behind a boat you cant hide that from my eyes. I've had a woody for those things ever sense the 70's when I got my first ride in one as a kid. Pissed my dad off to no end that I loved them so much, he was a Chevy/Corvette guy. The best of both worlds if you ask me, Italian supercar style and American (Ford) power/noise.

You know its funny the car is fun and fast but its a paint to drive. The seating position is very awkward. I too agree it is the best of both worlds but, it fails in comparison to the V8 914 in every aspect except the Italian styling. None the less, the Pantera has a blown head gasket so it will be getting a nice new 408 very soon(wich should make up for all its short-commings) and, if we can swing it a set of 180* headers. It will also be getting a new paint job once the rainy season ends. It is due for some love.

I do know what your talking about with the seating position (built for funny shaped little Italians), but there not as bad as some of the others. Ever tried to contort yourself into the seat/torture rack of a Countach ?

And dont get me wrong about the 914s, I had a 71 and really liked it. Except for the complete lack of power, lack of room for a decent tire, and marginal breaks. Oh yea, and the heater that would steam the window whenever you hit a puddle. I miss that car.

I'm thinkin you should just give "someone" and great deal on that broken down old Pantera instead of dumping a bunch of money into something your not comfy in.

Alright guys heres a shot of the Pantera. It'S about a year old but until the weather gets better and I can remember to shoot some pics. So in the mean time here's a teaser.

Time for an update. There is a bunch going on even though it doesn't look like it ( and its pissing me off) Had the pump rebuilt and blueprinted by Jim at Cyclone, and scored a NOS factory sanger intake from him also( next winters project). The trailer got a goin through with all new wood and carpet, plus a new coupler for the tounge, and a fresh coat of paint. The hull is still at the gel guy and its been slow going due to the shitty weather, but we got the gel design laid out and it has been in the booth for a week but its been too cold to shoot it, so hopefully it will get shot this week. Decided to stick with pretty much the factory layout for the gel
