First off - the steering was backwards - in the mess of the rush to get this thing ready, i didnt even look to see if the damn thing was put on right. So I said screw it and was going to at least get this damn boat on a plane - I deserved that, safe or not.

Lucky for me, my friend had already put his in backwards and was able to lead me in the right direction...:o :o :o
Funny thing is, when I put the gas pedal in I guess I used screws that were too short 1 1/4" (all I had in the toolbox and I wanted to be on the water). The first time I floored it, the pedal came off the floor and it was stuck wide open... good times, good times.... By the time I pulled the key out, my buddy had pulled the two wires on the ignition box. Wonderful. THROTTLE RETURN SPRINGS ARE MOST DEFINITELY NECESSARY!
