Tie bar between the nozzles.

-beerjet-

i like where you are going with this, but i am having a hard time picturing it, because the linkage would half to be past the pivot point! correct me if i am wrong...obviously there was a system what was functioning at some point on this boat right?

Thought of that too, VERY concerned about the safety of that though if you really think about it.  :sly:

Here's the original helm!

I think I'm in uncharted territory here tho. Hopefully Tom or Nick can come up with a solution. Or make one......

That is a dual rack helm. Two cables ( 1 for the left pump and 1 for the right pump )

Ray, I was talking to Josh (JBP) about a rack like that a while back.  He gave me a makers name and said there where cables available somewhere (cant remember the details).  Give them a call.

Thought so on the Pickle too! Good thing Tom sent a new helm! New teleflex racks don't fit these old buggers! Bolt pattern and spacing diffferent. Kinda like putting old Pinto wheels on a Corvette.

Spacing on this helm IS the same as the new helm and cable I put on the Pickle, so might be ok!

I've been down that road and your right, similar parts are available but similar bolt patterns are not available.
As far as to what I was thinking was that one tiller arm would be a 90* (2 tiller ams welded together) and the other tiller arm would point straight back so the tie bar would connect to the 90* on the first tiller arm.

With some slight modifications to the tiller arm(s) you could go with this setup and be done with it:

I wouldnt do the system where you have 1 cable controlling both nozzles that are linked together via tie bar....stick with the dual rack system and run 2 cables....this way you have a backup if one fails. the other way you are screwed if the one fails.....and if the tie  bar fails, it could get REAL ugly REAL quick

I agree. Part of the charm of this deal is if one engine/jet/nozzle/whatever fails, they can be run independantly to get ya home,  ;)
