ray why is there a bunk where the intake is supposed to be? can that happen?

Yeah, that's a 'nudder thing. Bunks are supposed to be under both, only one fin on the extreme side of each intake. Once I get Nicks address (texted him....hint....hint.....) and get the intakes back, I can set them. They cut one bunk off to get one of them out, then apparently fugured it out. gonna cut that other bunk off as well, then once I set the intakes, use the neighbors backhoe to lift the hull and put new carpeted bunks on.

At least, in theory, that's the plan....... :screwy:

Lots, actually. I guess maybe I should post pics up as I go. I was kinda reserving things to make it shorter than a 2Sav build......

Will post these. Sent the Intakes off to Nick (CJ222) and got them back with some bitchen race loaders he made for them. He consulted with harold bruce and a few others building them, BUT, if any of you EVER attempt anything like this, I think Nick can blow the dust off the jigs to make 'em.

Was gonna just go with the paint on it. But with what's involved, we've committed to a complete new gel coat that I'm still working on what it should look like. As well as trailer rehab, etc, etc. Dave still doesn't have the engines to build, so we're a long way off from this hitting the water.

I was kinda set aback by a similar build of the same hull over on PB that set the bar far higher than I was gonna go. I wouldn't be doing the SCJB crew any justice unless I did this thing at least on par with that. Lets just hope I can afford it......... :screwy:

What a great site! I'm so glad I found it. Thank you everybody for contributing !!

Way back in the late 90s when I had my first boat, I was going to the river alot. Every time I would pass by "The Shop", I would stare at this derelict hull in the parking lot. I was fascinated by the fact that it had two jets in the transom (Well one and a hole for another). Finally, much to the dismay of my now ex-wife (Boy, never get tired of saying that! lol) I stopped and talked to a guy named Jim about it.
It was a 26' Sleekcraft with a pair of 396 chevy's (one seized) and Panther-jets. It was very rough all over and he wanted $4500 for it. I loved the thought a pair of giant rooster tails trailing me down the river, but as I was ass-deep in my new Baja, there was no chance I could have afforded that project.
Anybody remember that boat? Know what happened to it?

Thanks
Jason

That's very cool, Im a BB Ford guy myself. I was thinkin a couple of set's of Kaase's new Boss heads would look great under the hatch! It would be more WOW than the Chevy boys at the river could stand!! LOL

I have a couple of all aluminum motors. One running and one in the build process.
I have a 466 that's in my Cobra replica . A96 block, ported A429 heads, 10.5-1, CC .605 flat cam, torker II, Barry Grant 825. Its a great running motors, but its got about 40,000 miles on it an its getting a little loose on the oil control. So I figured I'd start working on a replacement.
I scored an NOS A96 "Pro-stock" block (off of eBay of all places!)  Billet main caps, with 2.750 (SBF) main journals.
that started me down a long and expensive road. LOL
The small journals necessitated a custom crank, so I had Sonny Bryant grind one of the Ford Forgings at 4.250 stroke, 2.200 rods and a Boss snout. 6.800 Eagle rods and 4.600 spherically dished JE pistons at 11.7-1.
I got a set SCJ'B heads from Lem Evans who sent them down to Charlie Evans for a max effort port job, big valves and Ti retainers.I wanted a dry sump so I got a 5 stage Ed Pink pump with the air-oil separator. then came a Danny Bee belt drive. .
Im almost done collecting parts, only the oil pan, cam and lifters and a 3" Kinsler EFI manifold ...oh and head studs....and a damper....and gaskets.. and...
It feels like an expensive, 565ci, aluminum jigsaw puzzle LOL Heres a couple of part pics

Slaves!! I like the way that sounds! LOL

Yea it seems like everything breaks at once. My Cobra motor seems to be puffing a lilttle more smoke lately.. Im on the fence about a ring, bearing and cam (solid roller) rebuild. I hate pulling the motor for that, but i just dont have the $$ to finish my big motor right now.
