I have a drain hose on mine.  It sounds like you don't, so I believe that some guys use a pump like you said.  Any other way is probably going to be messy, but the guys here are pretty creative and will probably have some good ideas.

As far as the Oil filter, if it is in the stock position, put a zip lock bag around it to help catch the oil.
