So damn cool TJ.  That's my balancer as well.  I too panic'd about the seal dealio and measured till I was sick and worried it to death till I measured the stock balancer hub and found that the size was essentially the same.  I then found out like you that they say the different seal if for SBC only.

Keep it up and I love how you designed the locator for the 1/4 key.  Took me awhile to find a machinist that wanted to help me out (and then he charged me $250 )...   Whatcha gonna do??

Love you work.  Keep it up.......john

Damn John,
250.00. That is crazy. With this JIG I can set up and indicate then mill the keyway all in less than 30 Min.
I figure 50 to 60 bucks to cut the keyway. I will be assembling this thing soon. More pics to follow.
Thanks.

TJ, does that cup go between the HB and the crank pulley for the crank bolt?

I think it registers into the blower pulley and thus I would need a longer crank bolt. I need to find one from ARP.

you mean registers to the back side of the blower pulley?  BP is bolted to the front of the HB, and the crank snout flushes with the front of the HB, I cant see that cup on the front of the blower pulley, but its hard to tell in the pictures.

Nope. Not at all. The order of parts is Balancer, Crank trigger, single belt drive pulley and the blower pulley. The steel cup sits as you see in the picture above sits inside the front of the register of the blower pulley. I will take pics of it all bolted together.

I know TJ.  Whatcha gonna do but not go back to the guy?  With my new Obnoxious Racing Engines motor, I hpe to never have to worry about getting taken advantage by "local" guys.  He's a great guy and honest! Not something I can say about my previous machinist......

By the way, when you moving to Washington state??

Ok, got this thing together. I also have to mount an Air Bypass Valve. Most of them mount outside the bugcatcher that screw into the injector plate. I did not want to do it that way cause it looks ugly. I got the Air Bypass (GM) locally and bought the adapter from BDS for 8.00 and the air filter for 17.00. I think these were the cheapest items in the BDS cataloge. Anyway I machined an adapter out of aluminum so it would make right angle and held on with an -8AN bulkhead nut. This project gave me problems all the way to the end. Only the center section is opened and acts as the throttle body. The outer to holes are blocked off by plates. This allows me to put the air bypass valve assembly behind one of the plates. After machining the adapter it was time to make the 3/4" hole. No drill was going to fit in there so I had to use an angle grinder. This was a bitch to say the least. It took me an hour to make the hole. Finally all fits pretty good. Now I have to drill a small hole in the bottom of the bugcatcher to run the airbypass wires.
T.J.

Here is a picture of the Air temp control sensor in the lower blower manifold I drilled a tapped a 3/8 NPT hole. Also the ECT.

I am mounting the Accel DFI on the back part of the back seat of the boat. I know the cover is not water proof but it should protect it from getting wet due to splashing and such. I got the bronze tinted polycarbonate from McMaster and used the Modern plastic glue stuff with a suringe. I made the base out of alum. and used alum. angle (home depot stuff) and tacked to to the base plate. Then drilled and tapped the angle after gluing the box together.
Also polished the fuel rails, injector plate and made a throttle return spring bracket that will also serve as a plate to hold the main DFI harness with adel clamps that will be held on with the studs sticking up from the plate. Still waiting for longer blower studs that will hold the plate as well.
Got the MSD crank trigger phased in and final assembly of the throttle bracketry and bugcather. All bolts are lock-tited as well.

The last pic shows the plates I made that I am going to use for my custom lifting spreader bar.

I pulled the harness apart and had to remove some of the extra stuff I did not want such as the fire wall grommet, NOS, accessories (fan) and shift light. Also removed the main pos and neg from the main harness so I could run it along the stringer and not over the top of the intake. Also separated the ignition harness out of the main harness and I am going to shorten it. Came out alot cleaner.

Both upper and lower cradles are done along with the home made spreader bar and they actually work. The engine is hanging in the pics from the I-beam hoist. The lower cradle holds it good and it is not going anywhere. I made the lower cradle for winter storage as well as transportation on the back of my truck.

I also mounted up the engine on my engine run-in stand (took me 35 minutes, even had to pull of the crank trigger). Going to wire it up this week, get it started with a MAP and set up the idle, make sure no leaks anywhere, fuel or otherwise. I also welded an 02 Bung in one header. Going to use a friends wideband as well for this proceedure. There will be no 02 while in the boat.

Got some more work done. Got the oil in it and primed it with the priming tool. Oil pressure is good. Made sure I had oil up to the rockers. Then wired up the battery and starter circut. Made a crate set up for the MSD and the Accel Thruster. A lot of wires but it should not be too bad if you take one at a time. Also hooked up a wide band. You can see it cable tied to the crate.
Also made a simple bracket for the fuel pump. I have to just weld another bung in the right side valve cover for the puke tank, put oil in the blower and then should be pretty close to start after running the DFI wire harness and plugging in the sensors.
Man this is a really long road....

Ok this thing is almost ready to start. I removed all the wire covering for the ECM/DFI wires and re-did them again cause I did not like the way the were routed. Much better now. Also found a Linclon radiator my Father had lying around for the run in stand(the one I used before was beat). I transfered the corvette cooling fan and brackets to it. I also am going to try an external pump (see pics). I am still working/waiting on a .ECM program from an engineer who works at Accel. I built a program but I do not trust myself yet. I also will be running a wide band 02 (seperate system).

I just have a couple odds and ends to finish up. I am nervous as hell with this DFI stuff though. Stay tuned for a hopefully running video and pics of the Cops coming to my house. >:D

Fired it up today. Sorry no video. It started up in 3 cranks. Runs real rich. I am still working on the programming MAP. I have called Unchained many times for help. I am going to get video tomorrow. I am hoping a well know EFI tuner will stop by the house too. I am begging him, but Sunday is his only day off and he wants to go jet skiing. After tomorrow I am going to get the tanks ready and replace the impeller with the new Stainless "A" impeller I got. I figure I will have it wet in about 2 week. I am psyched.
