They make a huge mess, sooting all over the back of your boat. They will also kill power with lost scavenging in a NA deal.

I ran them on my race boat when I first bought it and it would only run about 70 and would not run past 4800, I put regular headers on it and it ran about 90 with a dual carb 468 at about 6200rpm, with a blown deal they work great, just really loud

Okay so another question. I decided to build my 460 this winter. What should i do first. For power. Its stock now. With a holley 750 double pump. Thats it.

There are literally a thousand ways to answer this question.

What are you going to use the boat for? What boat is it in?

How fast you looking to go?

What is your budget?

How often are you going to use it?

For the most HP, big cubes and a blower on top of a Super Chiller with a hat on top of that....

Fairly modest budget...its in an 85 tahiti, full stringer. I wanna go fast. I wanna use it every weekend. . . I want the whole lake to hear it too

Take stock motor, put it in something other than a Tahiti...that's where you start towards your goal.

Tunnel or winger would be good. There is a Bahner tunnel on LA craigslist right now for a decent price less motor

In my humble opinion...

10.5:1 compression, 514 stroker kit, tall open plenum Dominator intake with a Quick Fuel 1050 and Ceramic coated headers...

Don't forget good ignition and have someone in the know work the valve train, IMHO the weak link in the BBF.

Don't get in over your head on the deal, make sure you have it back together before the next season, or you will be hating life when summer comes. Personally I would freshen it up ( rings and bearings) put a cam in it, maybe an msd ignition, a nice intake manifold, headers, and some roller rockers. If the budget is there maybe some 10.1 Pistons, keep it on pump gas, makes it more enjoyable, keep it simple and enjoy it. Just my opinion

Good advice. Having a busted fast boat isn't as fun as having a reliable sorta quick boat.....so stay away from MSD...lol. My Spark Disappeared.

See if it is in your budget to install a centrifugal supercharger and have CSU carbs convert your 750DP into a blow through. You can run real reliable on 6lbs of boost even with stock components. Once you go forced injection, the need for a large thumping cam and high-flowing aftermarket heads and/or porting just isn't necessary. Aluminum heads will keep the weight down and you will be able to run an additional pound of boost before detonation compared to iron heads.

I think centrifugal superchargers are particularly well suited to jet boats. Your pump will be matched to your engine RPM and the centrifugal supercharger will also have an ideal RPM that is easily adjustable with pulley sizing. Compared to a car pulling through its RPM range and then shifting, once the centrifugal supercharger gets to its ideal RPM, it's time to shift gears. A centrifugal won't heat the air like a roots and therefore you will have less tendency for detonation.

Bet you can find a good deal on a used unit along with brackets and pulleys for your big ford.

By the way, what is your current compression ratio?

I would lurk around on the performance Ford, truck, and mustang forums. Yellow bullet is a good place to find some of the higher end stuff. Those guys are constantly upgrading which will give you an opportunity to buy the older (obsolete to them but usable to us) parts.
