So my days of going to glamis are done, I love the sand but can never seem to get out there so the quads gonna go. My brother rides a crf450 and the rest of my family that rides are on bikes so when me and my brother go riding together my quad is more of a rock crawler on the trails and I just don't want to beat it that hard. So why not trade it for an XR. I have a guy interested in trading this weekend but and it is a 07 xr650l (bone stock, air cooled, electric start) but I don't know if I should hold out on a 650r (liquid cooled and kick start, more power and a few other differences). Can't really decide on which one to get though. I'm mainly gonna be trail riding and using it on the street so the electric start bike sounds ideal to me but having the lighter r model that's liquid cooled also sounds like a good option. So any dual sport guys or honda guys have some insight and opinions for me?

Well that's the issue. The l model is registered in ca and the r model I might be trading for was purchased in ca at Langston but is registered in az. And if you want a Honda a XR400 no estart but way better trail bike and easy to reg 4 street

But if you do it up right you can do over 100 easily on the 650r
