Project Sandrail
« on: September 16, 2008, 04:27:46 PM »
So I decided to start another project and pulled out the tube bender again! I Started to build another sand car (my 3rd car I've built). I didnt take any pics of when I first started but here are a couple of pics of the frame tacked together. The fabrication part is easy, Its the comming up with the $$$$$ for all the parts to complete it thats the hard part :banghead:

are you going to use buckshot front arms? thats what that front end looks like. Is the frame done, or almost done? it looks good. i used to race in Score and MDR and my family has been in the desert racing and playing for over 40yrs. if i can be of any help let me know.

ya i was going to say it looks a little like a buckshot as well. looks sweet. Grandpas fiberglass shop does the bodies for buckshot. those cars are nice. Hal just bought one of the new X5Rs. the thing is badass. complete with seat warmers cost well over 100k though.

mine should be done by haloween. it is kind of based on a class 1600  car but i am running an 1835 and we opend up the sides a bit so it is easier to get in and out of. but i built if for the desert. so the sand should be easy for it.

i will stop by the shop and take some pics today..

one day i will be able to afford a full travel

rotoray has no balls down low.

what trans. i can get ya a good deal on a mendi.

the wrx motors are lightweight and proven to take a beating in the ralley cars. the can push close to 400hp on stock internals. just add boost and fuel.

def go with boxed arms. if you overbuild it you can always add more power..haha.. build it bullet proof the first time and life will be much easier.

that is not a budget buggy. if you want a budge buggy you should have went with a vw style buggy. i already got almost 10k into mine. and i am building it on a budget myself.

full travel = cash

i hope you keep us posted on this project.

Ya I know. The last one that I built was a two seater long travel with a 4.3 v6 and I had around 18k in it and it was not painted yet.

we have A chenowth genisis car that has 22" at all four corners. it has a vortec V6 with a built bus 091 box and its been together for over 8 yrs. never been apart and it will go down the sand highway at the top of 4th gear and its geared to do 100mph at 4500rpm. looks good. if you need any kings me and my brother worked for them for about 4 years and we know them pretty good. when you get to that point i will see what kind of deal they can cut me. Im also good friends with the owner of mckenzies, and with Sam Shackelfold at Rancho trans.
