ELSINORE, The Real Scoop?
« on: June 30, 2016, 11:10:13 AM »
Hey all,
Been taking my boat up to Silverwood for testing & am thinking about Elsinore as an alternative, (mostly because it's closer to OC)
I keep reading about folks picking up sucking up rocks & stuff, other folks say it's fine out there.
What is the real deal?
What are the dangers, or things to watch out for, etc.?
Is it risky interns of possibly damaging your pump, or? ??? ?

The problem is there are things to watch out for, but there's no visibility. You can't see your feet in ankle deep water. One of the members here took some readings and found it as shallow as six feet deep in the middle. The deepest part of the lake is sixteen feet if that puts anything in perspective. That said, I was out there two weeks ago, but it was to test out a couple seadoos. I'm not going to risk taking my boat out there with a freshly rebuilt pump.

Since the heat has turned up this time of year just like every year the water gets very warm and doesn't feel refreshing to get into. So I'm hitting up Silverwood and the RIVER here on out this year.

My personal opinion is to stay out of Elsinore. Not worth it to me

No issues here... I probably launched about 30 times this year already no issues... need to know the lake where it's shallow and not ... I'm a local so I'm very familiar where to go and not to go... you'll be fine if you launch from la Laguna it's deep enough there compared to others.. that's my experience

O.K.,
So there are things to watch out for & places n the lake to avoid.

How would someone who is not familiar with the no-go areas find out about those hazards specifically, in order to avoid getting in too shallow water & sucking up some unwanted stuff.

I mean, if the lake is as shallow as 6' deep in the middle, a jet pump can easily grab stuff from the bottom if you are charging through, right???

The lake is pretty shallow even a decent ways off shore. 95% is mud on the bottom so if need be once your close walk your boat in until your familiar. Anything out side the no wake zone is plenty deep to do as you please
