Looking at PE.COM I see that the green drink has been closed due to the algae. Hope it opens soon

Part of me hopes is opens, part of me hopes it dries up so the lake can start over with fresh water.

It gets skanky because it's shallow.

The sunlight hits the bottom and grows like mad.

Shallow, slow moving rivers do the same thing.

Fresh water will be uber temporary.

For my .02 cents along with I'm not sure how cost effective it is todo this? But they should add a aerator or some kinda small fountain system to that lake to shift water around if it is as shallow it sounds and slow moving. When you add a system like that to help move water around and induce air to the water it breaks up the growth of algae and helps the fish and plants in the water to grow.... But again cost wise I'm not sure what it would take

There is an underwater aerator. You drive over it.

Idk how effective it is though

The aerator system has been in place for years and has been very effective!
The lake is down almost 15 feet ,

That's interesting maybe if they added a small fountain to catch some air in it the combo of both could be more effective. How warm is the lake? I have never been there before I am from New Mexico and just moved to Phoenix a few weeks ago.

There was also talks about running a pipeline from one end of the lake to circulate the water but not in the budget just yet. Now would be the time to do it

The warm water is what helps it grow so well if you can cool it, it knocks it down.... Pipeline would work like a charm, Acid would work great! Till the environmental people flip a lid, just do hydrogen proxied and it wouldn't kill anything off.

The aerator is always running and it works well, there is only so much you can do though when there is little water circulation and 100 degree weather. They are talking about putting in a pipeline to dump the water they put in straight to the lake instead of the mile trip it had to take through a creek and loose most of right now

I'm with GT Jets, California hasn't got a clue about water. I wonder why some sort of aqueduct system has been put in to capture the rain from the mountains, and funnel it back to the lake. The lake generates revenue for the city, why not spend some money to keep it from drying up?? Just a thought!!

The biggest problem for Elsinore is canyon lake all that water belongs in Elsinore even in drought if you put that water in the lake it would just be low the warmer the water the more algae with takes the oxygen out of the water that's why the fish die I grew up there I've seen it when you could drive across it on spring street to downtown flooded it is the only natural lake in SoCal even know I haven't lived there in years I still love the place it deserves better
