i went out in the harbor and never again. almost sank, ran out of gas, then dropped my phone into the ocean reaching for the dock. i struck out.  you REALLY feel small when you go up near those container ships.

I'd do it if I can strap up the boat via helicopter or some other way to launch w/o putting my trailer in saltwater.

wd40 and a good wash afterward, they put trailers in the salt water that are worth double what our boats are worth to launch boats that cost 100k.. Why is everybody so afraid of salt water???? proper prep and proper cleaning after and all is good...

i didn't get any where near the big boats and not that far out and i felt really small. i would never go that far as i dont trust the ocean :-\ and sure wouldn't go out without another boat with me..

just watch the swell and take another boat with you just in case... it was a great time

The salt water part doesn’t bother me any, my family has had a few boats that saw a good amount of it for years and even now you can’t tell the boats or trailers have ever been in salt water. I guess I’m just a little nervous about the low freeboard out in the ocean. What totally freaks me out is when you’re fishing a ways out with no land in sight and you see a bunch of guys in a tiny bathtub with a 35 hp outboard. That’s crazy…. :screwy:

Have thought about a trip from Long Beach or Dana Point to Catalina Island in the cruiser- 26 miles- Katherines landing to Cottonwood cove is close to 30 miles, and Laughlin to London Bridge is 80+ miles. Need to make this an event, SCJB Invades Catalina

Squirt boats look cool at the dock, Ralph  June gloom in April?
