79 schuster jet
« on: March 30, 2015, 12:20:59 PM »
Soo I've come across this schuster at a local auction, it's got  BBC 454 and the owner had a compression test done on each cylinder before it came to the auction house was 150-155 threw all 8. has a Berkeley jet that may or may not need a go threw. interior is a soild 8-10 gel coat is 6-10 considering it's age it's not to bad! Capet is about a 6-10.

my reason for making a thread on this IS I looked up the mfg and it came back with outboard boats, which was interesting....

so I'll take any and all input if you guys have some. thanks!

Yes Schuster also made jets I had one with a berk when I was 18.

And yes that's an Olds not a Chevy, quick identifiers are the exhaust ports are not evenly spaced like a BBC and they have more valve cover bolts too.

That's a pretty clean looking boat though, seems like a good find!

thanks for the help! what do you all think the value on it is? I'm thinking more along the lines of 5,000 range since it's in such good condition interior wise and it fires right up, hulls not all beat up and it's on a newer dual axel trailer... any thoughts?

It all depends on timing and buyer.

Try not to run it too long without water running through it.  Not just for the engine but also for the packing glads that seal the suction side of the jet.  I have 2 shafts that are toast because some previous owner didn't follow this advice.

$5k would be a good price IF everything is in good shape... it can quickly escalate 2-3x that if they're not.  The only bummer about an auction is you can't test drive anything so it's tough to say what's what.  Keep that in mind when bidding. ;)
