You'll go a long way down that hill before coming to a stop; I lost an edge a couple times there but never fell from top to bottom; thing about Cornice is there are no rocks to collide with; you just have to ride it out.
My scariest time was on Wipe Out or Drop Out (can't remember which is which); it's VERY narrow with a lot of BIG rocks; I was making the infamous "one last run" and lost an edge; no stopping there but at least I was 3/4 way down and most of the boulders behind me.

I bailed on my last run down cornice this year... Just snowed 4-6 feet so the snow was deep. Lost my left ski and catapulted a good 30-40 feet down the hill as I was buried in the snow face up I see a pair of skis go right over my head... Snow was DEEP. Then I had to find my other ski and two poles.

Yeah yeah yeah but at least you were at Mammoth. I haven't been able to get away in several years now.  Not sure how much I want to considering the prices tho.  It sure ain't like it used to be.

My parents do. $2500 a night. Sleeps 15, comfortably. Located 1.4 miles from Canyon lodge in the Stonegate community.
