I have a 2wd Titan and the only time I was worried about the loss of traction was pulling a 24' seadoo boat out of lake mead. I did loss traction briefly pulling it out but don't know how much of it had to do with being 2wd, my rear tires needed to be changed pretty bad.

I pulled rays beismeyer cruiser out of mead on the same ramp several times with newer tires and had no issues.

I see them do it all the time with no problems.. I was just wondering if they just got lucky and its usually a pain. I almost never go boating with just my boat so getting pulled out shouldnt be an issue. Just hate to be "that" guy holding up the ramp because I had to look cool! 

Only 3 times have I had to use the transfer case lever pulling any of mine out. Once was at Elsinore, that thing was SLICK! The other two times were doing beach launches at Bartlett Lake.  2WD is fine I would say.........

I pull the Tahiti around with my 4 cyl 2wd S10

 You shouldn't have any problems around here SD.  I pulled my first boat (77 Tahiti clone) out of all the lakes around here (even Bass Lake) with a 72 El Camino, and no posi. 

i never put my truck in 4wd....35" tires though...my friend steve has a 38 foot scarab, and he pulls his out with a 2wd dodge cummings...its actually kind of funny cause he swerves side to side all the way up, but he does it!

2wd is fine if you know how to drive.  I pull my boat with a 2wd 6spd Tacoma....even at Elsinore I have no issues....and that ramp is too slick to get your feet wet without landing on your ass.

Yeah that ramp sucks, I've slid waist deep at that ramp before. Once you start sliding there is no stopping it. Haha... I have never had a problem with launching before, but I've seen some people slide around on that ramp and I always pull in 4x4 just cause.

What ramp are you guys refering to at Elsinore?  I launch at Lakeshore with my 2wd silverado and have not had a problem, I hear there is another ramp that's not so steap.

If lakeshore is the one closest to Main St. that is the one I'm talking about. Right next to a recreation center and small baseball field..

I have launched at Crane's on the West end of the lake where the RV park is, ramp there is not steep at all but you have to park in a dirt lot and your truck/el camino will look like a crumb doughnut when you get back to it.. And it is also $30 to launch vs. the $20 something at the state rec. one with the steep launch.
