Looking for A/C in San Diego
« on: July 22, 2009, 07:21:59 PM »
I'd like to put it out there if anyone on the boards does this (or knows someone) that does it for a living.  I figure I'd get treated better here than looking in the yellow pages.  I have an old house built in the 30's that has heat and air from the 30's (or lack thereof).  Plenty of room in the attic or below the house for ducting.  I have a newborn and we'll be spending more time at home.

thanks

Where in San Diego? I have a friend that has ownerd an HVAC company longer then I can remember in South OC (Laguna Niguel). I could give him a call and see how far he goes down to. Probably the most upstanding, straight forward guy I know.

Taco'd "a person or people that show up with one lake lice and a family of 50 and cram 3 people at a time on it with no disregard to boating rules or ethics. Usualy crap in toilets and throw shit paper in trash cans. Hang out at the boat ramp like its a swimming hole. Have zero insurance on anything they own and dont give two shits less about your property."

I used to use a guy on Greenfield in El Cajon all the time, can't remember the shop name. It's right off the corner of Mollison and Greenfield, right next to Mark Motors and Wally's Muffler

I'm just east of downtown.

Not to be-little anyone that's in the biz, but is this difficult to do?  Big fan, condenser, some tubes & chit the attic?    :D.  Yeah, knowing it would be done in 2 years and still not work right.

Any recommendations for equipment/size?  It doesn't get too hot or cold here, but enough to warrant looking into this.  Rough estimates on cost?

Let me know the square feet, ceiling height, window type, best guess at the insulation factor (R12 roof, R24 walls etc.) how many rooms, electrical service amps, (probably 100 AMP) and I will get you some options. ;)

Thanks GT  ;D ;D

1500 sq ft, 3 bed/2 bath, no insulation (should get some blown in), 9' ceilings,  single paned windows, my pops will do the power (retired electrical contractor).  The house is an old historic house, wood & plaster, real 2x4's (you know the ones that actually are 2" x 4"  ;D).  Just east of downtown - so it's not as extreme as El Cajon.

Yes, natural gas is piped in and I have runs in both the attic and crawlspace.
