A question of brands..

I've seen next to no Glastron Carlson jets on this site. I bought my CV23 new in 1977 and have never even considered selling it. My question is why don't they seem popular in california where they were
made??

I know you guys love the surf boards with jet packs but what's the scoop on the carlsons? To heavy?

Just curious.

I grew up on a Carlson, and an 18' runabout. Glastron is a damn good boat but I think they're way more popular east of the Rockies.

I know nothing about the history, heritage, or pedigree if you will, of boats. My first boat was a Horizon that my family bought back in the 70's and I still have it. My second is a Wriedt daycruiser that I will have until my kids get tired of it, or until I win the Lotto and can buy a Schiada. It seems as though most of what the guys here run are all kind of cousins of each other anyway, being copied either deck, hull or both. For me it was all about finding a boat in well maintained condition, as I suspect it was with most other people here.

I don't know how reliable it is, but according to this site it sounds like their factory was in TX, which would explain why there are so many more of them mid and eastern side of the continent.

I've been trying to track down some photos of two CV23's here in the Portland OR area. There's a guy who has completely restored one and is trying to give the hull and trailer away for the other. He posted on Craig but now it has expired.

If I take my boat addiction to the next level I think I'm going to go for a CVX20. Keep feeding us all details about your CV23. I agree that this branch of their product line are really nice boats!

my second boat was a cv23, bbf, fun boat, very solid, not the fastest thing on the water but made up for it in other areas, we put a mister system on the bimini top for the really hot days, made some good memories on that boat.

Carlsons were built in California till at least 1978, then moved to Texas. I really like the CV23 and just couldn't believe I was the only one.

No they aren't the fastest boats on the lake but move very well for a boat with a cuddy.

Carlson's were built in Anahiem on Grove St. Not where Eliminator was, but I believe the other end closer to Crusader.
Art Carlson was so far ahead of his time in his designs, but the So. Cal. market wanted more flexablity on motor options, colors and so on. Just my .02

Cool pics Ron, Josh will dig these We actually have two CVX 20's in the Family Rhondas dad bought a new one (Silver and Grey) in 79" (stays at the Naci cabin ) and Josh (who always wanted one like Grandpas) was able to buy his from one of our customers last year We use Josh's as a test bed for aloy of our ideas and new "E" pump products Joshs's "Big" boat is soon to be a Major JBP "project" lots of cool improvements going under the hood ! Thanks for Josh , gonna lose the 460 and get the dual carb full roller Stroker from the Miller RR boat very soon should be kind of cool stuffed under that Glastron hood
