A Border Patrol agent trying to stop a vehicle that had illegally entered the U.S. was struck and killed Saturday in southeastern California, agency officials said.

    The agent was killed about 20 miles west of Yuma in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area, a spot along the border that is popular with off-road vehicle enthusiasts and frequently used by smugglers.

    The agent attempted to impede the vehicle’s progress before he was hit, but the Border Patrol did not immediately have more information, said agent Eric Anderson, a spokesman for the agency’s Yuma sector.

    The name of the agent killed was not immediately released because his family had not been notified.

    Witnesses told the Yuma Sun newspaper that agents were chasing a Hummer and a Ford pickup on Interstate 8 when the vehicles turned into the dunes and fled toward Mexico. The agent was trying to place spike strips in their path and was struck by the Hummer, they said.
                                           
The dunes are becoming a very dangerous place people.

I think they should allow the border patrol to be more aggresive...it will never stop until something is done...i am all for people that go about coming here the legal way, but it is getting out of control here...i was working on a remodel inside the mirage and they have signs posted up saying learn english as your second language free classes...which brings my next point how come no one is taking advantage of that? Why do we cater to them...they even do it at my union hall because all the illegals buy their books dont do a lick of school, and come on the job and dont have a fucking clue...where we got apprenteces that are up and coming and make maybe half as much as these "book buyers" sorry guys i can go on forever, but i am sure you dont have forever to read this

i too am in favor of giving the border patrol more power, but if you look back just about a year ago we had two agents (compos and ramein) (spelling) get convicted for over 10years each, for doing their job. they caught a drug smuggler and shot him when he pointed a weapon at them. the government gave him imunity for his testimony. i dont know all the specifics but they are still in prison today,

wow this subject can keep me going on forever...i know that this problem is spreading even all the way to the far east and north...but the real big problem still lays in the southwest...about the two border patrols i have heard of that and think it is total bs...i have also seen an interview with a border patrol saying that they can catch the same refugees 3 times in an 8 hour period that tells me eventually they are going to get across...have you heard about the texas farmers that are taking matter into their own hands...well they arent putting them into prison...i can keep going with just one liners all day here
