another SCJB newbie here
« on: May 07, 2012, 10:18:14 AM »
Greetings SoCal JetBoat'ians . the names Brian, but friends always call me B-sauce .  residing in Huntington Beach, Ca  , just getting into the boating world for my first time.  i previously worked for VanDyne Engineering out of HB , and worked on a lot of u.s.a.c midget and silvercrown race cars, along with a lot of muscle cars, drag cars, and boat engines . i was toruing for a while as a crew member in the pit team for the midget and silvercrown cars, and when i wasnt traveling i was at the shop doing tear downs, cleaning parts, prepping parts, assisting in assembly and setting up and running the Dyno room . so i dont have schooling or book smarts when it comes to engines, but for my age i have a lot of hands on experience with engines. so now my good pal Sam that is a member on here has been cool enough to give me his old dana 19ft  minus the engine and jet .  so this past weekend i purchased a BBC 454ci engine and a berkeley 12jg split bowl jet .  I have a lot of work ahead of me before im river ready, but here are first pics to start it off. Cheers!

you will no doubt sink your boat in reverse with that there nozzle upside down.
Make sure you fix that before your first outing

Shoot id cut the angle off so it aimed straight up, haul ass and drop the bucket and there's your roost. Any one can shoot a roost out and up but how many can say their roost shoots straight up

so my landlord just hit me up and said i am not allowed to park my boat in my parking space because it " looks trashy "  . so i called around and couldnt find storage a dollar cheaper than $100/mo without driving a hour away and with that situation + my income.. looks like im not going to have the ability to finsih the boat anytime in the next year lol . so im selling the engine and jet now.  i paid about $2,000 for both so im just trying to not loose anything on this. so if anyone is interested im selling the 454 and berkeley 12jg split bowl for $2k .

First off, calm a bit before parting the thing out to please a "landlord" . Sounds like Hitler, to be honest. Brad went through a rather similar incident that really had nothing to do with the lease acgreement, but more to do with the "landlord" (Gawd I have trouble even with that title) wanting to capitalize on perceived opportunity to make  few $$

I'd have to see your lease agreement to be sure, but I'll bet there is a stipulation in there to "maintain the grounds as per HOA requirement" . Obviously, it aint the HOA (if you have one) that has the issue, just the landlords "opinion".

"Opinion" in this case does not make a plausible arguement. It is just that, their "opinion" . Just as my opinion is the BBF makes a better jet boat motor than a BBC. Doesn't mean jack.

Renters HAVE rights, many more than "landlords", in fact. Might cost a few hundred dollars, but get a lawyer involved and teach the "landlord" sumpin.......JMHO.

yeah im sure i could try to fight him on it, but even without having to pay the storage its still gonna take me over a year to finsih it just because im living on a budget.  iv had the engine and jet for over a month now and havent been able to put $1 into it and summer is already here. i just had to come to harsh realization that i was trying to live out of my means . gotta figure out a way to make more $$ before i start something like this again. the hull belonged to sam, so im just giving it back but i need brakes on my truck and a bed for my apartment whihc i cant even afford so this will really help me out if i can sell it and get my $$ back lol.

The place I store is in Stanton, and it's only $75 a month... It's not a bad place. Cheapest I've found for sure. But slow down, it is not that big of a deal to not be on the water until next year.
Yeah storage sucks, but sometimes we have to make it work to get what we want...
