So as some of you may know my boat story and some don't it's come to the point where I've gone from I could sell it or keep it to I kinda need to get rid of it. But I have had the boat listed at 3500 and I don't honestly know if I'm priced to high or what. So  here's the skinny on it for those that don't feel like reading a 300 post thread.

It's a 71 kona, full stringer with a Berkeley jc-a. New style manual place diverter and all new cables an steering. The jet is fresh, I rebuilt the jet with a new wear ring, bearing and seals. Motor has polished 4pt mounts and the 455 olds has a torquer intake an holley 800 dp, 150 in every hole and runs like a top. Motor also has new plugs, wires, cap and and rotor and the carb was rebuilt after I found out the secondary circuit was plugged with crap. The interior is still soft and had no wood rot. Only problem with it is the but pads are starting to crack and separate at the seams. I have new carpet on the center section of the floor other than that piece the rest of the floor is just glass so nothing holds water and rots. Stringers are solid, no delam or rot in the hull anywhere. Still has the original hardin marine gauges with the exception of a sw fuel gauge. The gel is in decent shape. Needs a good buff to bring the shine back and there is a spot on the front of the gunnel whe something scratched it and a spot on the nose that fought the dock but it's just cosmetic and not structural. Once the rub rail is fixed it would hardly be noticeable. The trailer has all new bearings, 4 new tires and bearing buddies. As well as fresh bunks and carpet with led lights.

I'm just trying to get a ball park figure of what it's worth, Thanks guys.

Here's some pics of the scratches and of the boat. The picture that shows the center carpeted section is prior to replacing the carpet. One thing I forgot to mention is it has dual aluminum tanks.

I think 3500 for a running lake read boat is an excellent price with the minor needs of your boat they want nice paint new carpet and stuff they need 6k and up so don't move on your price if you parted it out what complete motor plates n exhaust 2200 hull gas tanks n trailer n interior 1k running pump with jetavator 600 good price imho

i frequent CL, daily... almost hourly.  none of the 18 foot jet boats are pulling any decent amount of coin unless they're the few desired hulls and set up for high mph numbers.  Coupled with trying to sell it in the winter season. 

i got $1500 for my 18 tahiti hull without motor and that was with a lot of new parts and brand new upholstery.

I think that pice is good.  Keep it for anything less. That boat is ready to go play and that's what a lot of people want.  Remember summer is coming and shouldn't have any issues letting it go for what you want.  Good luck on the sale

Love Kona boats and I would not even consider selling mine. So I don't mind putting money into it. But going in i knew I would NEVER get anything near out of it. If your actively trying to sell it youll have to wait till the right person comes along, and really wants your boat. The big prob is there are so many up for sale or sitting in someones driveway that they really are a dime a dozen .That being said sorry dude id say 2000.00 I don't care what parts are in it. the parts are worth more than the whole.

Gotta remember the good ol saying, Its only worth what someone will pay!! If you list it for a # and your not getting any bites then I would bet its listed to high. My guess for something like you have is about 2 grand.

Like said above, it's winter... And most people around here want to spend half what they really should because let's face it who doesn't want a deal.

That being said, the major items that you have redone or upgraded don't really make people what to spend more for it. It's the visual stuff that gets everyone to look and want. You have a reliable boat and you know it, but if I'm a buyer I'm assuming every other word is a lie. I go by what I see and can prove.

To put a number on it I'd say $2-2500. So I wouldn't drop it any lower than $3 listing price. Just need to wait for the right person.

Thanks guys for the input. As far as selling it, i figured id have to wait for summer and leave the price alone. I don't need it gone asap, my neighbor is letting me store it in his back yard on his rv pad for free but come April hopefully I'll be into a house of my own and I'd like to have it gone by then. But even then that Depends if I have access at my new home to add a pad in the side/back yard or buy a house that is already set up so I have plenty of room to store my crap. So in the end it all depends if I have the room for it or end up trading it for a K5

The last I heard K5s don't float too well.  Do you and the family have good times with the boat?  Can you afford to take the boat out?

Yah we enjoy the boat, last season I took the boat out probably 10-15 times but my wife and baby only went twice. It was usually me, my brother and my oldest daughter that would go out fishing in the early am then swim and drag the inner tube around for a while and then leave. My biggest fear is my 15 month old baby drowning. She's fearless and loves the water so the two trips she did go on the boat went from the ramp to the spot and back. That's it. And I spent the entire time stuck to my daughter so no one went out on the boat and the trips were kind of a bust.

As far as affording the boat, I own it out right, everything has been replaced and rebuilt and it's been a successful trip every trip after about the 4th trip out when the steering rack snapped. It's a easy 100 to spend a day at the lake between gas ($40) getting the truck and boat in (25) and food, waters and soda (40).  So if it's just me and the wife and kids, it's not cheap but where else can I spend 100 bucks to keep the kids occupied all day and have them sleep all night. And if I go out with friends and everyone pitches in its like 20-30 bucks a person so it's really not "not affordable".  I do all the work and maintenance myself and it's always a good day in California to take the boat out.

And if I got rid of it, it would be a part time break until my youngest is alittle older and knows how to swim. And as far as upgrading I think the only other boat that I would like to get would be a sleek 23' executive. Other than that I love this little kona, for an 18 it has more space than I know what to do with, the 20' kona day cruiser I was looking at actually had less interior room. So If I got rid of this hull I would definitely look for another down the road. To replace it. If it sells it's money to put into the new house, if I trade it for a k5 it would be another family thin to go out camping and what not in big bear, silver wood area. I'm looking 87-91. Fuel injected and get 17-22 which is comparable to any half ton truck now a days so it's something I could drive all the time and let's face it......they are AWESOME. But if i don't trade it or sell it, it will just sit and wait for me as long as I have room for it.
