i got rid of my valentine after it drove me nuts.  all it did was detect where every single automatic sliding door was as i was driving.

its much easier to just go the speed limit.

they just offer one. Theres different software versions, but I've had mine 10 years without having to upgrade it.

If you read the manual and used it properly, it works great. Also it doesnt work worth shit in the city. I used to live in HB/LB like you and never used it nor relied on it in those areas. Yes, you get a lot of false alarms, but also the cops out there dont use radar much. CHP will pace you in your blind spot or they will use laser while stationary. You cant beat laser. Once youre hit, youre done. I actually turned the laser option off on mine because the rain sensor on my truck for my windshield wipers would set it off.

THUS why i said a V1 is GREAT for open desert roads. Only time I've gotten a ticket on a open desert road is when I got paced by a plane.

It's always on 78, I've heard that truckers broadcast that info all over another part of my strategy is to get a cb and eavesdrop  and see what I can learn. I am really interested in a radar jammer...testing effectiveness etc, it's the natural progression of the technology, if there's any CHiP's on the forum comment and share your knowledge but keep yourself anonymous (reg a fake account) and pass tips

Many a time pulling the boat I am exhausted from work or gettin shit ready... So I haul ass to make it interesting. Same as on the way home, long weekend, long drive, yawn..

I just got a ticket last week for a 61 in a 45 bookin it on my lunch break to meet the fiancee for food. Cop got me on laser. Just so happened Van Halen came on the ipod.. Panama makes you burnout and run the gears every time.

Biker cops are always mad at the world, 'specially one that looks like 50 cent. He didn't understand that van halen has an influence, shoulda told him I was listening to Usher's latest jam and shit got away with me.

Back to subject; I'd been debating spending the $400 on a V1 for years. Though it was laser that got me, would a detector pick him up from far away tryin to bust another young whiteboy in a new truck and make me slow up and pay attention?

This ticket will cost me $400+ with a day in traffic school.. Maybe the next $400 I make can invest in a detector and save untold amounts..

Scramblers sound like an easy victory, but aren't legal in CA as far as I know... What happens if you get popped on having one?

I have more speeding tickets than any half dozen of you guys put together and got most of 'em before I was 30. Hell I had 3 before I even got my license.  My best time from Corona to Water Wheel (225 miles) was 2 hrs. and 48 minutes.  Got one as I was walking out of a liquor store in Searchlight NV. when the cop told me that he had been chasing me for 20 minutes and had given up.  It was just bad luck that I stopped for beer.  Even been pulled out of the car at gunpoint more than twice.
Trust me I know about the need to drive fast.
BUT when pulling a boat, you just can't do that.  You can't make evasive moves and you can't slow down very fast at all when towing.  Physics just won't allow it, I don't care how good of driver you are.  People die and lives change in an instant out there on the 10 and 40 and especially highway 62.  Matter of fact I lost a buddy from high school on that road.  He was a CHP responding to a call and was hit head on by someone trying to pass a line of cars without enough room or visibility.
The life you save may be your own.     And at $400 a pop plus a jack to the insurance premium, I can't believe 20 minutes of your time is worth it.  But you guys are younger than me and your priorities are a bit different.
