Boat trailer towed ???????

Get home from work today park my truck walk past my boat to the front door. Grab the mail and see I have something for me from the CHP :o Oh crap what the hell did I do now. When I open it, it seems that the CHP has towed my boaat trailer from the side of the 405 FWY, and is now in a storage lot. I looked outside and sure enough my boat and trailer is still there :screwy:  Well i guess its time to make some phone calls. Anyone here have something like this happen to them ::)

When I was 19 I sold a car. About 3 years later I got a letter in the mail that "my" car was in impound in Las Vegas (I lived in the OC, sold the car when I lived on the Central Coast) the letter stated that I could get the car.  What had happened is that the idiot that boat it from me never registered it in their name. When they got arrested in Vegas they just notified the registered owner.

Did you sell a boat or other trailer?

I still get collections letters for a car I sold 5 years ago to a guy in Canada. I turned in 7 change of ownership slips and they still keep sending me notices. I give up trying to figure out dmv.

No OC never did sell a boat or trailer. Did finally talk to the CHP and the guy gave me different names as to who the puter said the notice SHOULD have went to :sly:  Really made me wonder, but he said not to worry, the tow yard WONT come after me :sly:  They will probably send me a letter, AND if I want to call them I can and tell them its not mine.  :screwy: Said they dont have my SS # so they cant send it to collections. For some reason I dont believe a frickin thing he said ??? ??? ???

Too funny marc, but from the report the CHP did it dont sound to good.Valuation by the officer-0-300, drivable  NO  Front tires POOR, ( single axel ) Wrecked ?   yes   The one thing that got me was the question   Vessel as load ? The answer  Yes    HMMMMMMM    Thing is no titles ::) ::)

Check to see if your trailer has the plate on it.
I borrowed a buddy's trailer a few years ago and some f*cker stole the PTI plate off of the trailer. I don't remember if my buddy ever got a new plate or not. It was just a POS 3 rail dirtbike trailer.

you should get a hold of the tow yard, and clear things up. No they can not go after your credit, but they can flag it to DMV and prevent you from re-newing your registration. This happened to my father many years ago, when an impound yard wrote down a license plate number wrong. Impound was swearing that my fathers Buick hoopty was in impound, when the license plate belonged to my fathers Porsche 912  :screwy:

Almost 10 years after my dad sold the '66 Chevy wagon, my dad got a letter from the Texas Highway Patrol saying his car was found on the side of the road abondoned. He told them he sold it years ago and that was the end of it.

What a pain in the arse. Get home today and get a lien sale notice for the trailer that was supposedly mine. Called them before and they said not to worry about it. Call em again today and the guy says that I need to get ahold of DMV :mad:WTF Asks me about vin # 's and I tell him they dont match, his vs the CHP, after more bitching on my part he decides to go check his paperwork, comes back and says DMV reports no registered owner, and for me to disregard the notice :banghead: :banghead: So now wonderin what to do, call DMV? prolly a useless thing to do..Call the lien CO.  prolly another useless thing to do...  or just forget it ??? ???  Also find out its one of those little box trailers you can get from homo depot that is full of DIRT!!!! :banghead: They only want 300 bucks for towing and storage, and 36 bucks a day on top :screwy: Any input guys ???  Mark
