BRAD...STICKERS...MAGAZINES
« on: May 21, 2008, 08:17:06 PM »
Brad,

Got the stickers today….already put them on my boat.  They look excellent.  That’s a good looking sticker my man!!!  Hey…have you ever thought about developing  a socaljetboats magazine??? As you know, Hot boat has changed and I think there would be a huge market for jet boaters with a magazine like this site.  Lets get a business plan and I could probably come up with a pretty good amount of loot.  WHO'S WITH ME?????

Anyway, thanks for the stickers.

Have a good memorial day weekend and be safe.

P.S.  -  That’s a bad ass boat you have!!!

cool....glad you dig the stickers! and thanks for the compliments on my boat!

yeah, we've talked about doin a mag here on the site awhile ago (about the time HB went down)....it just doesnt make sense. too much time, effort, and money and not that much of a return. I have extensivly kicked around the idea of doing an online magazine (e-zine)....even to the extent of setting up a makeshift site to lay down some ideas for layouts.....but even once i get it running and live, it would take a lot of man power to keep it updated.

The forum updates itself with the members input/posts. A magazine requires me to go to events, take pictures, write stories, bio's, tech articles, etc. its a full time gig and whats the payback? not much. There arent many shops, manufacturers our there in the jetboating word. Even if all of them bought advertizing, it wouldnt be enough to keep my bills paid, let alone a staff to help keep it going.

Also, PerformanceBoats.com does the ezine thing. When was the last time you actually looked at their articles? They do have jetboat content, but no one looks at it. I have a favorite that goes straight to the forums. This is the same with most of their members.

i have done the math, kicked it around in my head, and its just not worth it. Maybe someday i will do the ezine thing, but for now, my hands are full with the sticker business which is a great second income right now.
