« on: May 02, 2017, 09:02:48 AM »
So I was thinking of camping on Mohave over memorial and want to stay away from the crowds. My other concern is weather. anyone know of any good coves or done it with a jet boat? any help would be useful. Thanks

from orange county. I am usually on Mohave or the river in bullhead. when on Mohave we have never really ventured too far north. on the lake. I figured there would be a good cove to get away from the traffic.

I usually head south from Willow Beach, or north from Cottonwood. the lake is usually less crowded there, vs Katherines.

Memorial weekend is usually a zoo on the south end. there is a lot of little coves for camping, I use google earth to find perspective beaches.

Wind is usually out of the south/southwest. NV side is usually better for protection. I've been in 4' swells out there, and it came up quick. (Thunderstorm)

Check out north of eldorado canyon, about 4-5 miles. (fyi- eldo cyn is an alcohol free zone)

I could tell you my secret camping coves.... but then I'd have to kill you.  ;) I camp north of Cottonwood with my jet boat a lot.  We look like the beverly hillbillies but I don't give AF.  Check the weather before you go!  I can find coves in the Owl Point area, it's east of Nevada bay.  If you have lots of gas go north to the powerlines and before Nelson's Landing there's some sandy beaches.
Have fun, I'll be out there the weekend after memorial if the weather acts right, I hope it's not still crowded.

I did not know El Dorado Canyon is alcohol free, is that because of the cliff jumping that's going on there?
