pretty sure dana marine, etc are all just resellers of hardin-marine products. all their product images, descriptions, etc are all exactly the same. I have had AWESOME service through cpperformance.com and my web orders usually get a shipping confirmation by EOD.

Its hard to get good customer service anywhere anymore, REX is the worst and Dana is always crap and takes too long. If its specific boat stuff ill just go to my local boat shop and grab it or order it. OR i go here http://www.mcmaster.com/ (http://www.mcmaster.com/) for bolts, air lines, electrical stuff.. Ect

Not sure what happened to Rex....I can't help but think that if invested in the website 5 years ago he'd still be one of the big players.

Naw bro Rex is done. They are slow on their shipping and their stock is scarce. Garbage.

. He is right Rex is a one man operation now!! Last time I was there we needed a flash light to find parts cause he had no lights hung in the new smaller shop. I have called and called and no answer. Sucks because they use to carry a ton of shit in stock.

Exactly. I went there to grab a jet o vator cable after work. Got there around 330 and nobody was there ?? Next day went back after finally getting ahold of the lady on the phone and when I got there I asked why no one was there the day before at 330 and she said we didn't have any customers so I went home early. Also they close at 5 but she told me that at 430 she won't open the door no matter how much you bang on the door. She told me she's goes out the back. I just stood there stunned and left. Last time I'll give them my money

Between health issues and the economy, Mike at Rex downsizing.
And it's not looking good.
I call Eddie Marine, mainly because they are around the corner from me.

But business is business! If you can't keep up with the demand then at least put a disclaimer online or let your customers know about delayed processing times or shipping delays.
Obviously only if you value your customers, some people don't but that's their prerogative.

Hell don't feel bad for Dana Marine, They may not move as much product as they used to, nobody does, but they still move a bunch of product. They also manufacture a lot of their own stuff. That being said, Dana is a DICK! I've gone rounds with him a few times over misunderstandings and screw-ups on their end. Ralph is cool and Dana's wife is cool. The other girl there is clueless, which has created some issues. I believe they're under staffed and if the wrong person is handling your order it can take forever. I still occasionally buy from there, but I will-call and go pick it up.
Last couple purchases I've done have been from CP Performance. Nothing but good to say, knowledgeable people, fair price and fast shipping.

I went to Dana Marine personally and their customer service is questionable at best. I stood in front of the guy without acknowledgement for at minimum 10 minutes. They did seem understaffed. But if I'm spending my money with you a smile and simple hello ill be right with you or something would have been nice!
The total opposite at GS Marine! Greg is awesome....gave me excellent attention to what I was there for. Definitely will get my return business. Can't say the same for Dana...they weren't rude....but just no people skills! I want to spend my money with those who at the minimum know how to treat people.

I have dealt with Dana a few times. I agree on the wait times but I found Dana to be pretty cool. One time I was looking for stainless bolts to redo my exhaust tips, which he didnt have, but he said he was on his way to Mcfadden dale hardware, and if I wanted to follow him he would help me get what I needed. We went down there, and then back to his shop and he cut them to the correct length while I waited at no charge.

I've never had any issues at all with Dana. Maybe you guys need to spend more money :)
I've had all my orders arrive within a few days to a week.

Oh I've spent a fair amount of money there. And I know I can be a bit short with people on the phone when I feel I getting jerked around. Maybe the couple of times I've talked to Dana we were both having "one of those day's". And I still buy from him now and then. Like others have said though, when I'm spending money with you, it's your job to extend the customer service, at least that's how I see it. As I said previously, Dana's wife and Ralph have always been more than cool and made every attempt to be helpful.

I've dealt with Dana a few times and you ask him how it's going and he'll tell you exactly how it's going. If it's a good day then good...if it's one of his bad days then I let him do his thing and come back another day. He's always made it right if it was wrong....in my case anyway...

Dana is very innovative and has created some awesome parts over the years. Based on that reputation I went to his shop looking for parts. He made the offer that his shop could install everything for me. Gauges, powder coating bezels, steering, ST control, bushings and misc hardware on the nozzle, replumbing the fuel system, replacing the fuel water separator, replacing lines, repacking the bearings, and installing bearing buddies. He said it would take a week to two weeks.
He had my boat for almost three months. Every time I called or stopped by he'd tell me, "just another couple days" or "next week." My boat was half taken apart sitting in his lot with nothing being done on it. I paid him in full, in CASH. All his parts came out bitchin, but the install is where I had issues. Things were missing, installed sloppy or incorrectly. I paid good money for a professional install. I was not a happy customer and had to fix or repair all the issues myself to salvage the rest of summer. The only time I went back is when I blew up a hub on the way back from my second river trip with the boat. I realized he didn't install the bearing buddies and I question if he even cleaned and repacked them to begin with. To his credit he replaced the hub for me.
That's my experience. Now, I prefer to do my own work or learn how to do whatever it is myself.

Your problem is you paid upfront. I've learned that lesson many times, you always need some leverage.

I worded that poorly. I paid after the work was done.
